The card industry has changed with the times, so have kids. Kids today are of a generation of instant gratification & bling, to that end Topps has done a good job creating products that offer this on many levels. 30 years ago a kid was happy to pull a card of his team, or favorite player, or to...
It really is hard to say right now....
If the guy can stick around, even as a compiler, for the next 3 or 4 years, and add 400 - 500 hits and 100 or so HR's, it's going to be very hard to keep him out. And believe me, I am one who believe it should NOT be the hall of stats, but having 2500+...
I don't know....
Belle was amazing for the time he played, both in regards to his era and to the length of his career. I would be willing to bet that if he had the persona and popularity/likability of say a Griffey Jr. he would have been a lock first ballot. So in that sense I do believe it was...
Agreed.
Others such as 2 grand slams in one inning, or 2 back to back no hitters, although very impressive statistic anomalies, are still achievable. Just starting 511 games as a modern pitcher throughout your career is pretty much reserved only for the elite with regards to consistency and...
Such a shame really...
Bonds, Big Mac, Arod, all of these players have suffered so much in the way of popularity and fame. However, they all are still remembered for the awesome statistical performances their respective careers produced. The dominance and grandeur of their accomplishments...
Awesome pull!
As for price, obviously the comparison to Smith is fruitless as there are some/many deep pocketed Smith collectors who will go batnuts for rare stuff. Having said that, I could see the Bradshaw going for $750-$1500 and not be too shocked to see it go for a bit more.
kent falls in to the category of a player who deserves consideration, merely as a formality, to show respect for a very good career. No way do I consider him a HOF'er but understand the validity in consideration.
I remember years and years ago I bought a box of 1983 topps, it was a new market test issue that featured foil wrappers like today, not the standard wax type of back then, and every pack had anywhere between 4 and 15 cards per pack. It was a mess, but I did not complain because I hit multiples...
Not trying to burst your bubble op, but what others have been trying to say in perhaps a 'not so welcoming' or a bit less than sympathetic tone is that every single one of those cards you purchased (together in a lot) are some of, if not the top of a select few respectively, that are the most...
Corners are the most demanding grade with this card, and subsiquently a premium would be placed oh a higher subgrade for them, all else being equil. Having said that, and seeing your corner subgrade is the lowest of all 4, i would assume you would see a sale of average for this bgs 9.
Seems reasonable, however it still seems worth mentioning that all of this is for not unless those who are 'suggested' get final approval from you, right? I mean regardless of what the system pushes out, it all comes down to who you approve, no? Not implying anything, just want to be clear.
"Thank you for a quick and well packaged item. I just wanted to let you know it arrived safe and sound, however it did also come with a postage due of $0.43 cents. I am not trying to call you out for a few pennies but rather just wanted to make you aware that buyers (including me) are possibly...
No other option but to spend the couple hours it takes to search it and cherry-pick the worthwhile players/lots and sell individually. Selling in bulk, as is, means you would probably only get next to nothing for them making the whole thing not worth your time, especially selling on CR where...
I was not going to reply on this but rather let others see the error of your assumption(s), however I have a free minute and far be it for me to neglect someone in need of education. I think we all can agree that by your assertion that "collectors by their very nature put values on things" is a...
