My thoughts exactly. I think he lost a ton of his collection in a fire or robbery (can't remember which) and am not sure if he continued collecting after that...
I did some quick research on this guy, apparently he was the consensus top-rated safety prospect in the country out of high school. He played baseball senior year. Looks like he chose the wrong sport.
Excellent game. However, I think they were right to pitch to him. I don't put the winning run in scoring position with Ethier coming up. Ellis might have been able to score from first on a Kemp double, but it would have had to be a real gapper.
I meant a pitch in a major league game. Obviously I know that pitchers throw in the offseason.
I agree that if he is to pitch in the playoffs, he should see game action every once and a while the rest of the way.
And I'm not sure loss of mentality would be a problem for him. He came back at...
How does shutting him down completely risk reinjury? Pitchers are shut down completely all offseason and don't injure themselves in the spring. As long as he works out safely, I see no harm in him not throwing another pitch this year.
Well, Jim Johnson prevented my fantasy team from having any chance at a respectable ERA this week. Five runs in a third of an inning against the Twinkies?!
And if he miraculously gets to 67, that will be the most all time in a single season. He's said his goal is to be the toughest out in baseball, and he's certainly achieved it in my mind.
Browsed through search results and couldn't find a thread like this. If you're on Twitter and talk baseball at all, post your handle here. I feel like everyone baseball I follow is a journalist and I want to get some fan perspective.
