Simple, take Bryce Harper's Bowman Auto for example...
Raw-$250+
BGS 9.5/10 Auto-$500+
Higher realized values on the secondary market are going to lead to more people cracking their product in hopes of pulling a high grade card. As I said before, Leaf is in direct competition with Topps...thus...
Apples to Oranges there...card grading companies do nothing but help fuel the demand for Topps' products. The price increase which is seen by slabbing high grade cards leads to more people busting their products.
The problem here is as someone stated before, Leaf is (albeit small at the present time) a competitor to Topps since they are in the business of card manufacturing. I am sure Topps wouldn't have had a problem with the best of series, if it weren't for the fact that the proceeds could be used to...

the asking price doesn't leave any meat on the bone imho. ask for a scan (both front and back) to see if you think it is worth crossing over. here is my psa 6 for reference. the only thing which kept it from grading higher was the back centering.
The lower levels are kind of tough due to the fact that players can be drafted anywhere from 17-22 years old, so it's a little harsh to ding them for that. Another thing to keep in mind is a "toolsy" HS kid can toil in the lower minors for 3-5 years then quickly put it all together. With that...
Back to the minors for a week...I was sure they were going to throw Harper out there to kick off the second half with a bang. Guess not...
