How Trimmers are Really Getting Away With It

With all the PWCC trimming threads catching fire...

    I was curious.
Could I take a dark bordered card, drop it on a corner, manufacture a ding, press the card and trim the defect away while keeping the card 2.5”x3.5”?

    The card
2018 Topps Archives? Dave Winfield Purple 134/175

Oops, the top right now has a pretty nasty ding.

    Pre trim measure

Stick this puppy under 10 Science books for a bit

    Fire up the guillotine

    Final measurement

I’d guess 1/64th of an inch was shaved

    Final cut

This all being said, this practice has no place in this hobby and I couldn’t imagine someone having the balls to knife a 52 Mantle like it’s currently being done.

Without a loupe I couldn’t tell the difference in the edge of a trim or non-trimmed side.

The card was definitely shorter, but unless BGS and PSA are getting really nice rulers out on every single card, they’re not catching the difference.

I don’t know who is more to blame-
    -TPGraders
    -Consignors
-Now me for putting more info out there

Nice work, now send it to PSA and get your 10! That's sarcasm by the way.

Sadly it’s now not going to meet minimum size requirements.....I think.

They're using lasers now, not blades. But still a good post. I can't believe the TPG's are letting these through. What good is a 10 when it could have been a 7 at one time. Scammers/fraudsters are using modern technology to alter cards, yet the TPG's won't use it to catch them. Unreal.

I mean...it may have gone through many preparations...A through G were complete failures.

Please note: Card collecting is my hobby, not my life. I don't take it that serious and like to keep it fun.

I see that the PSA Collectors Universe forums don't have any threads on this topic.
