No one deserved it more than Machado. Not sure how Adam Jones won though. Glad Hardy picked up another. Hard to argue with Salvador Perez but Wieters was just as deserving.
I agree. Machado was a no-brainer!!

I had 3/6 of the O's winning. I figured Machado, Hardy, and DAVIS. Jones is great in the OF, but there were a handful of plays that he easily botched.
But DAVIS... if anyone watched more than 1 O's game would know how amazing Davis was on D at 1B. The combo of Machado & Davis were amazing to watch ALL year long.

Cano should've definitely made it. Shocked that Pedroia actually won it this year. I know I have Yankee bias in that Pedroia is my least favorite player hands down in baseball but he's not the 2B that Cano is and not even close.

+2 ;)

Defensive metrics have consistently painted Pedroia as a fantastic second baseman. On the other hand, Cano has been consistently painted as mediocre.

I have two things to say about the gold glove awards this year:
1. Glad Gomez finally got recognized for his phenomenal defense in CF
2. Adam Jones AGAIN??? Who is he sleeping with?

It's not about errors, it's about defensive WAR. Arenado had the 4th highest defensive WAR out of all NL players.

Defensive WAR s c a p y
1. Simmons (ATL) 5.4
2. Gomez (MIL) 4.6
3. Parra (ARI) 4.0
4. Arenado (COL) 3.6

And to add to the metric stats - Arenado was 2nd in all of MLB with runs saved behind Machado.

Do I have to be the one who expresses surprise that Jeter didn't win this year? C'MON, YOU WERE ALL THINKING IT.

In all seriousness, I'm glad that Arenado got recognized, as he was spectacular this year.

Cuz sabr metrics are all that matter. Watch a few games of cano playing and Pedroia and you'll know exactly why cano deserved to win that award over Pedroia.

But in reality it's a gold glove so who really gives a crap?

I'm sad to see Adrian Beltre's reign as the top fielding AL third baseman end, but Machado definitely earned it.
So many of his plays this year blew my mind.
Machado's range and arm may be the best I've ever seen at third.

HOF voters when the time comes.
Nah, HOF voters don't care about Gold Gloves.

Most of the all-time leaders in Gold Glove awards aren't Hall of Famers.

Jim Kaat won an amazing 16 Gold Gloves, second all-time, and won 283 games.
Keith Hernandez won 11, the most ever at first and was a great hitter.
Don Mattingly won 9.
Vic Power won 7 straight at first base.
Bill white won 7 at first.
Wes Parker won 6 at first.
Frank White won 8 at second.
Ken Boyer won 5 at third.
Scott Rolen won 8 at third and won't be a HOFer.
Dale Murphy won 5 in the outfield.
J.T. Now and Mark Grace each won 4.
Doug Rader won 5.
Torii Hunter won 9.
Andruw Jones won 10 straight, and he won't make the Hall.
Omar Vizquel won 11, and may not be elected, although he should be.

I wasn't saying they were, I just providing a rationale. However, I don't think Cano is very good at second. Pedroia also won the fielding bible award for best 2b in baseball.

Really surprised about Cano not getting it but I think a lot of it has to do with his style of play. He's so smooth when he plays that sometimes it can come across as lazy or nonchalant while Pedroia makes everything look max effort. I think his reputation for not hustling that he has also hurts.
