Does anyone know what the '09 Starlin Castro sold for?

To my knowledge it hasn't sold. I think it could get around $2500 right now.

Why what do you think it would sell for? Tulo may be a much better player, but Castro's 2nd year auto super sold for $4,000 last week. The market determines the value, and Castro is the most popular player on a big market team.

I think the first-year Castro Super would get more than $3,600.

He TRIPLED his money! For Montero's sake, how greedy should he be?

Fantastic sale IMO

Greed is not a good thing with modern cards. I totally agree.

Getting what something is worth isn't greed, it's getting fair market value. I personally think it's worth more based on the fact that many lesser Supers have sold for much more. That's just my opinion. People buy Supers for much more than this of players who have never played HOPING they become a player of Tulowitzki's magnitude. I guess what I'm saying is that clearly Tulowitzki's popularity has not peaked and this card will sell for much more than this in the future.

Too much risk involved. you said "HOPING" which is what prospecting is. Look at all the people who were holding on to Alex Gordon, Billy Butler, Russ Martin, J.D. Drew, etc. When getting 3x what you paid, you can't go by hoping. Got to know when to let go. There is no guarentee when it comes to the future. Injuries is a common thing.

I wonder how much it might sell for when it hits 6 years old.

Guys, I promise no one knows the Tulo market better than me. I can also promise you that today was a hard day as I love this card...LOVE it. What does this tell you?

I have now made thousands off Tulo, have a nice PC that is free and clear, and still get to consider him my favorite player.

If in 6 years he's hitting like Tulowitzki is right now, I would think a lot more than $3,600. Tulowitzki is vastly underrated in the hobby right now. Yeah, he has some injury issues, but watch out if he can play a full season.

It's great that you have made money off Tulowitzki. But as a seller of his, you must know that his stuff is undervalued compared to many other young players. It's great that you made a huge profit on the Super. My only point is that Tulowitzki has not reached his peak in the hobby yet. If he plays this whole season like he is right now, that is a $6,000-$8,000 card. That's my only point. It's not prospecting when it's a player like Tulowitzki. He has proven what he can do and the hobby has yet to catch up and take notice.

IF is the key word......I agree with you however too many players have flamed out quickly.
Think about the value Soriano once had, now you cant give his cards away.

That could be an expensive "if".

I know you did. If I had the money, I would have bought it from you and sold it for more later in the season IF he stays healthy. Who cares if I'm saying if and could. It's not really a big deal. I stated my opinion and that's that. I don't really see what the big deal is that I disagree with you and a few others.

My opinion: I think you sold too early in the season and potentially left a lot of money on the table and it matters not to me whether you or anyone else agrees with me.

The End

I am pretty sure they know. I think they are just debating on if the timing was right.

You are being a debbie downer for no reason.
Congrats to the OP on the sale. Great price for a great card. And $3600 is going to buy a lot more cardboard

Good sale. Way to take some big time profit, be happy about it. I always take the profit when available; greed can get you in big trouble and more times then not end up in a loss.

Now if only the damn Rockies would lose a game.

So he is not allowed to have his own opinion? I'm pretty sure that sportscardtheory is happy for the OP, but he's jus saying that he thinks the OP left money on the table. If the OP is happy with the sale, which it seems like he is, then who cares if sportscardtheory voices his opinion?

If you can triple your money on anything, especially on a piece of cardboard, then somethings wrong with you if you dont sell.
