some sellers say that as few as 10 copies per player exist. Has anyone seen any "official" estimates of the quantity released per player? Were there different amounts per player?

There were many more then 10 of the Griffeys. I would guess in the 50-100 range. The rainbows were harder to find maybe 15-25 of them.
