My guess is instead of inserting it as a redemption they waited till he signed them all from '07 and just put them in the '08 product, but what do I know

so does that make it an 07 which was his rookie year or an 08?

Very nice pull, this is done at times whenever item's are produced for "on-card" auto's (the same can be seen for the 2008 UD USA On-Card Auto's that were released in the 2008 set's, the date on back list's them as 2007's) as the production of such card's are made ahead of the rest of the print run since there is extra time needed to get them sent out, autographed by the player's, & then sent/brought back to the company for packaging. The card will be listed as the year it was released, in this case the Dice-K will be considered a 2008 (not a 2007), & though it is a very sweet card it will not be considered a very sweet rc....Great pull none the less! :D

Thanks houston the only thing is is the card looks like the 07's not the 08's(with the vertical stripes) But why would it be stamped with 07 and not 08?

Because the actual card was produced in 07 most likely (yet it was not released in 07). Now if it comes down to it & you want to list it as an 07 and/or a Rc, then no one will stop you & most likely many of those that see it (whom are uneducated on the product & this card in particular) will take it for an 07 & Rc; as they won't know any better....Basically it all comes down to when an item was released that decides the year (not so much when it was created, though recent action's by some company's would beg to differ) &, whether we like it or not, Beckett also has a huge say in the matter as it is basically thier "say-so" that will undoubtedly get the final say in whether something is considered a 2008 issue/2007 issue/Rookie or not! :? :D

Thanks

I guess when companies do this like with the Aflacs in draft it can really be confusing I mean it says 07 but was released in 08 what a royal hose job. things really don't need to be that confusing when it comes to cardboard either way I am very happy with it!

It's a 2007 Rookie Card, that is why. LIVE 07 UD premier Dice-K autographs were pulled in 08 premier, before some were returned from UD for those who pulled redemptions in 07. It doesn't really matter how you got it, redemption, or packed out. You now own, a 2007 Dice-K Rookie Autograph.

"Upper Deck has revealed that 2008 Upper Deck Premier will include randomly inserted 2007 Upper Deck Premier autograph cards of Red Sox pitcher, Daisuke Matsuzaka. These Matsuzaka autographed cards were originally checklist within last year's product, but were pulled in an effort to reduce the amount of redemption content.

These limited cards will be making their way into packs of 2008 Upper Deck Premier along with additional autographs from players like Derek Jeter, Don Mattingly, David Ortiz, Ken Griffey Jr., Cal Ripken Jr., Ian Kennedy, Mike Schmidt, Rod Carew and many more."

So why isn't the rare 1933 Goudey Napolean Lajoie listed as a 1934 Goudey when it was mailed to collectors who requested the missing card #106 of the 1933 Goudey set?
