Forgive me, but whats the appeal of this wax?

the precious metal gems sell for huge amounts of money...and to the op i doubt you find any for good prices considering most sellers know people are chasing the pmg's.

Lebron, durant and rose's 1st pmg along with 90% of other players. plus, this is kobes 1st pmg wearing #24. not only that, but they only made 375 cases. then, you add in the pmg name and thats what makes these cards so hot.

and yes, im a HUGE fan of these haha

im guessing with the low low case run, they are pretty "easy" to pull, odds wise

Odds wise, they’re not too bad at all. The odds of pulling a Red/Ruby PMG is 1 in every 1.5 boxes and the Green/Emerald are 1 in 6 boxes.

Also, I talked to a few collectors and rumor has it that, since the PMG cards are always stuck to the back of a common card due to that wax stuff placed on them, some of the cards may have been placed into common boxes and/or thrown into the trash unknowingly. Personally, it almost happened to me once, so I could see it being a possibility. The first time I pulled a PMG, I didn’t think pulled anything, until I got ready to throw the cards in the trash..... luckily I sorted through the cards one more time…...only to find a....... Red/Ruby PMG....of....SHAQ :o

Its a timing thing. These cards were hot for a few months as collectors all went ahead to make sets at the same time. This caused some bidding wars and those who have big pockets that like to pay more than the average for cards. The ending prices on ebay for the PMGs have been all over the place. Recently they have ended for lower prices then what we saw them sell for a few months ago.

That being said, the superstars such as Jordan and Kobe will always sell for a ton of premium. They have 100x more collectors and collectors that usually have deeper pockets. They also command popularity overseas. Many oriental buyers focus on an acute number of players. Jordan, Kobe, Pippen, Rodman, Grant Hill, Barkley, Latrell Sprewell, Jason Willams (I dont know why). They also tend to drive the prices up as well.

This has been happening with 90s inserts of jordan and Kobe as well. A few sales blow the card up and put it on fire, only to watch people jump on the bandwagon to buy a few. Next thing you know the market is flooded with a bunch of them oh which none sell even close to the first few. Exactly whats happening with Famous Nicknames auto set in Treasures. Kobe and Bird selling for over $1k. Drexlers for $500?? A month back they could have been had for $250 on the kobe and Bird, less than $100 for the drexler. Dominique at $600? Once the few guys at war with one another have had it, the prices come straight back down. Anyone ever stop to think that maybe a few people are fixing the market by showing a false trend in sales? Nothing like listing 2 or 3, have them purposely won at insane amounts... have everyone jump on board with envy then blow out your stash to them?? Im sure it happens all the time.
