A high-end new prospector's set comes out & I have a hard time finding a single thread here about it?

I think the cards look awesome, and the 3 cases I had sold out in two days.

What gives FCB?

I'm really not impressed, I mean there is too much overlap in prospect auto's & if Topps was smart they would've released Sterling "BEFORE" 09 BDP! Why would I wanna break a product to get a Matzek, J.Mitchell, Trout, Grichuk, Minor, Leake, Hobgood, etc auto whenever I could purchase the product that will sell better on the secondary market???- "Chrome is King" & SV's show it for single's!

Just my opinion. :D

In order for BS to be very successful, there needs to be exclusive autos not found in any BC product. The lack of Future Game auto jerseys AND the addition of WBC jerseys dont help either.

Dont be shocked if BS boxes tumble well under $200 and BDP well under $50

1. Insanely ugly cards

i think the design is great, but the stickers do not look good with the the cards. that's beside the point of the "stickers on a premium product" arguement.

all other points are valid.

i think a total of 4 prospect autos have not been in bowman products before.

$225 is too much to spend only to get cards that sell for a fraction of it's chrome counterpart. The Sterling concept needs a complete overhaul, starting with the stickers. In order for Sterling to solidify itself as a top end prospect product, it needs to find a way to deviate itself from Chrome. Autographed relics and patches, such as in exquisite, would probably do the trick.

The issue is that it is being released right after BCDP and right before EEE. EEE is being touted as a potentially great product, and BDP has gotten some solid reviews with the multiple autos per box, and possibly loaded cases. Sterling has a price point significantly higher than each, and a design that probably ranks 3rd out of the top flight prospect products.

Sterling's poor performance has NOTHING to do sticker autos or a bad design, it traditionally sells very well EVERY year, and frankly, it's really tough to find unopened boxes of the stuff from ANY previous year.

The bottom line is- the player checklist sucks.

If Ackley and Strasburg had sticker autos in the product, it would be selling VERY well right now.

I just don't like cracking a product that yields a Gordon Beckham second year auto card as it's feature pull.

cause it's fugly, it's fugly, ahh ahhh it's fugly.

Well, the true point is the checklist is the same as chrome, with the additions of patel and singh. Nice job Topps.

It is too bad. I almost ripped a box yesterday, but my shop had them for $285. Come on Mr. chou, you are better than that. I guess he saved me a bunch of cash.

BUT, it did convice me to pre-order 6 boxes of elite. I know, I have come to the dark side :D

As someone who has bought 3-5 boxes of Sterling every year for the past few years, I am tired of paying $250 for a box that returns $50-100. It is ridiculously expensive for cards that don't have a chance to return. Draft is a better investment.

And yes, like others, I'm putting my money into DEEE this year.

I agree with every comment made. One thing that could help the sales of Sterling is if it's release date wasn't immediately after Draft. I only have so much $$ to spend on cards. If two different sets have similar checklists and one set has on card autos compared to the other set with sticker autos, I'm passing on the stickers.

I've been buying a lot of this product off ebay.

First off, Chad Jenkins managed to get his Autographs in on time (huge for me, a blue jays fan)

Secondly, autographs are selling for so frakin' cheap and it seems as though sellers are listing a lot of it at a time. In the world of Canada, you can save a lot of money buying 10-15 cards from someone as opposed to looking for a great deal.

I'll pay 3.50-5.00 for a Borchering Autograph any day, really.
