Neil did all is field work at 2nd along with the knee drill. Other people commented in camp that the Pirates are going to move him to 2nd.

Tabata really didn't have anywhere to go. He was coming in for the physical and I just happen to notice him getting into his car. We had 2 players backed up already in the parking lot so I just went down the line.

Pedro has lost 10 pounds in 20 days.

Tommorow its Rays

Today I did the Rays complex

Tim Beckham 0-1 ( Pulled my ball out when I saw he was looping the To
Grant Balfour 1-1
Dioner Navarro 2-2 OMLB SS ( Figure get it out of the way before his graph gets any worse)
Jamie Shields 3-3
Andy Sonnastine 2-2
John Jaso 3-3 1 8X10
Jacob Mcgee 3-3
Scott Kazmir 1-3
Matt Garza 1-3
Fernando Perez 1-1 8X10 ( Asked me where I took the photo, asked another guy how much does a World Series ball cost and then personalized World Series balls for some so be careful !!)
Gabe Kapler 2-2
Dale Thayer 2-2
Troy Percival 1-2
Matt Spring 2-2
Dan Wheeler 1-1
Gabe Gross 1-1
Joe Maddon 1-1
J.P Howell 1-1
Neil Frontz 2-2
Reid Brignac 1-3 ( Pick 1 .....)

It didn't seem like I did well but after typing it out I feel better. People I really needed on stuff have not reported. Got 5 2009 Topps out of the way. Upton and Burrell signed but I was on the other end waiting for Matt Garza and Troy Percival.

Info about the complex. No need in getting there before 9:00am. Complex closes at 1PM or after pratice. You can graph the entrance but with no gate there isn't a point in it unless you know what your doing.... Only players that stopped today was Gross and Kapler.

You pulled the ball out of his hand because he was going to personalize it? That's a little jacked up.

Personal

Think about it. If I wanted my name on the ball I would write my own name on the ball and give it to him.

Pictures I dont mind because I ask for it anyways but baseballs just dont display well with To: Will on the sweetspot. If there going to do that kind of stuff, just personalize it on top of the ball and sign it on the sweetspot.

With cards I have players write all kind of different stuff:

Gabe Gross: War Eagle !

Lance Cormier: Roll Tide Roll

Brandon Moss: I had him date the card and explained to him it was the 1st one for my 2009 Topps set.

Matt Spring: 1-17-09

Last card for my 2004 Hudson Valley Renegades set

The interaction with the player is what I enjoy most when getting the autograph. I rather ask him about his last hunting trip then discuss how to spell my name.

Your preference is fine but it is still pretty damn rude to pull the ball out of his hands when he agreed to sign for you. No wonder so many players end up hating autograph seekers.

This is why players get annoyed when signing. He's willing to stop and take his time to sign an auto for you and you take the ball out of his hands because you don't want it personalized. If he wasn't a new guy I would hope he would tell everyone not to sign for you.

My belief is that the players like signing they just dont like that its never really over. I am sure they are going to be noticed tonight in the bars and at Target.
Then again by someone at 7:30 am in the morning but its like I told Mr Goff
(Ray Minor League Field Coordinator) there are a ton of worse jobs then playing baseball at 9:30am in the morning 64 degree weather.

Obviously we all collect differently, and some of us are a bit anal with our collecting habits, myself included. However, I fail to understand how someone can be rude or unappreciative when a player is willing to sign for you, just because they want to personalize the autograph.

I'd tend to agree that sometimes personalizations negatively impact the visual appeal of an autograph, but if you don't like it, just thank the player and move on. It's not hard to see why players stop signing when players are having balls pulled out of their hands or having people putting 10 or 20 cards to be signed in front of them.
