1/1's that aren't

I just picked up my fourth one of these....

If they are cheap enough, I usually pick them up but it kinda bothers me that they are each labeled 1/1 with just the description being different. I've probably seen about a dozen of them or so and I'm sure there are many more than that. What do you guys do for your players? Feel free to post what you've got as well.

I collect the Dawsons that I find, I too have about 4 Dawsons, I will try to scan and post them tonight. I count them as 1/1s though since they are marked 1/1.

In my searches I sometimes come across a Yount with $99 BIN that hasn't sold. Makes sense now, glad I didn't hit it!
Edit- a Molitor sold yesterday for around $15. Diamond Kings 1/1s sell better than that

Those 2009 SP Legendary Cuts Memorable Moments 1/1s are the same thing, but they aren't even GU. Someone on COMC had a Derrek Lee for around $8, and it wasn't selling.

I see where you guys are coming from that say it should't be labeled a 1/1, but where should the line be drawn? Different foil stamp? Different color paper? In some ways, this isn't that much different than most 1/1 cards, in that the only thing that makes it a unique parallel is some detail that is different. In this case, it's just the description.

If people can, with a straight face, call a card #'ed /2014 a 1/1 because it's a particular #/2014, then there's no reason not to consider these 1/1s.

I'm just curious how people can defend a superfractor being labeled a 1/1 but then say these should NOT be marked 1/1? A superfractor is EXACTLY THE SAME AS A RED OR BLUE OR XFRACTOR JUST WITH A DIFFERENT COLOR OR PATTERN!!! That's exactly what this is!!!!!...a variation, nothing more. I know there's a difference as far as demand and perceived worth, but honestly, anybody who really thinks about it objectively will come to the conclusion that each of these Legendary Cuts variations is as equally "rare" as a superfractor. If you are a Bobby Doerr collector and want the entire set of these, that set will be IMPOSSIBLE to complete if just one other single collector out there has one of the other Bobby Doerrs.

Does it really matter that it's marked 1/1? Why do collectors always take cheap shots at the obvious? Every collector knows that not all 1/1's are created equal, but by no means does it mean that the 1/1's that are in less demand are not truly 1/1 and shouldn't be marked as 1/1. I think it's fair to label this 1/1 and it SHOULD be labeled 1/1 because anyone out there who may decide one day to collect this whole set for a given player should know that each variation does indeed have that one of a kind scarcity to it, which may influence the importance for that one collector of obtaining that particular card.

Garvey is in that set and has 99 1/1s! I wouldn't pay traditional 1/1 pricing for these, but they are just as unique as any other 1/1 card unfortunately, because this is about as cheap as an idea as they come!

I have a 2005 Donruss Champions Impressions #1 Adam Dunn autograph card which, according to Beckett, is a 1/1 (the card itself is not serial numbered). The only problem is that I've seen another copy of the exact card bought/resold in the last few years. I know it wasn't just a copy of the image of my card because the autograph itself was different on both cards. E-mailing Beckett didn't help the situation as they stated their information came directly from Donruss and, as they are out of business, Beckett was unable (unwilling) to change their site information.

Personally, I think it's very misleading. Now, if you know the situation, fine. But if you buy one thinking it's unique only to find out there are a bunch that are almost identical--man, that's ballistic time.
