Can you imagine?

Well, lets see here. I paid $5 for the pack and youre offering me $17,000 for one card.
I could buy a car.
No thanks, Ill keep it because no one will ever make any other 1/1s for sure.

what many people fail to realize is that $10K to some people is like $10 to most of us....a drop in the bucket...

Problem with those 1/1's is that there were multiples of those 1/1's on the market due to backdooring. i remember some people were sued for having them.

Got any more info on this?I'd love to hear it.

As far as the OP...yeah...I'd sell it in a heartbeat.I could pay off my truck and all of my credit debt in one fell swoop!

I've never heard of issues regarding the 1997 Masterpieces, so please do provide info.

And yes, it is also my opinion it would get more than $800.00.A lot more.If it was a Griffey one of one from 2005 or 2006 or something then no.But this particular card is a whole different animal.

I think why the guy never wanted to sell it is because a 1/1 of back then was a super big deal.I mean...it always is but back then that was like the highest pinnacle you could achieve. Now you can have a bunch of different types of 1/1's and the amount of them have driven the prices way down but back then...that was top dog stuff. The hobby itself was trying to make the cards rarer and scarcer because the overproduction of the 80's and early 90's stuff just about all but killed the hobby. They had to pump life back into it and so they started trying to make things rare."A card numbered to 10,000...hell how about we give you a product where you have the chance to pull a card that nobody else can?". That was huge.

I agree. I've heard about the 1998 issues but not 1997.
