NT came out before the 2013 season, which, like it or not, seems to be the threshold for calling a product from the previous year. 1998 Leaf R&S had the same problem coming out in Feb, 1999, but people adjusted. NT also is not focused on rookies, though there are some good ones in there, and if it was I think people would have a problem with it. But, like others have said, simply having another product from a different company that stands a decent chance of being medium to incredibly hot will salve a lot of hurt butts.

UD got in trouble for actually showing MLB logos. They tried to tweak them, crop them, and hide them, but did an inconsistent job of it and paid the price for not paying their graphics guy for a few extra hours of Photoshopping. Panini, from what I've seen, went to the trouble to select photos with no visible trademarks, or cropped and airbrushed them well enough to stay out of trouble.

I wonder if they'll release a Crusades set for baseball. The basketball previews look amazing.

Are you sure 1998 Leaf R&S came out in Feb 1999? I'm fairly certain I picked picked up a few packs right around Christmas time. Anyways, I'm pretty sure that product was already packaged up when Donruss went under, and then was released once Playoff bought what was left of Donruss. It wasn't released well into another year by design.
