Great start so far, i'm working on the '07 Topps Heritage set right now but also want to start a vintage set from that era while a good amout of the players are still alive. Keep us updated on your progress!

Got these in TTM today they put me up to 60. I would like to thank HoustonTeams4me for giving me a good deal on the lot that had these and a few others. If anyone has any unsigned or signed 54 Bowman's please pm me and maybe we can work something out.

Another one in TTM today Stan Lopata this makes number 61 for the set or putting me at 27%. Also happy to report I picked up a *** 6.5 Yogi Berra that I will be cracking and sending out TTM so that will be one of the bigger named living players off my list.

Re: 1954 Bowman Autograph Set Progression Thread *Updated 2/17*

I got Smoky Burgess in today got a good deal on it for $15 BIN. He passed away in 1991 and was the last player from the 40's besides Minnie Minoso to retire in 1967. My scanner isn't working at the moment so I figured at least I'd post the Ebay pic. Also if anyone has any 1954 Bowmans or if their shop does and they want to check them out for me please let me know as I'd like to knock out most of the living players in the next couple months.

Re: 1954 Bowman Autograph Set Progression Thread *Updated 2/25*

I went and bought a new scanner today so I'm still getting the hang of it. I got this Gene Woodling in the other day. Woodling passed away in 2001 I know the centering isn't great but I have started to realize I can't be so picky about deceased players and that if I have a chance I can always upgrade them. This week should be good to me as I have at least 2 more coming in. As always if you have any 54's I can use ttm let me know.

Here's another one in today Chico Carrasquel he passed away in 2005. This is number 69 for my set and I have 70 incoming already. I also joined another message board yesterday and already have deals in the works for 2 more deceased players.

I got a pretty big one in today...Jim Gilliam ROY in 1953. I know you are wondering why this is a big one but this is my first player that passed away in the 70's. Jim passed away in 1978 meaning this card was signed at least 31 years ago it was my most expensive to date as well at $122. I have one more on the way and hopefully pick up another for my set today.

This is a great thread! Good luck on your project, and be sure to keep updating the thread. I really like hearing the stories about the autos, too. You might want to add the dates sent/received for TTM.

One question: do you prefer ballpoint or Sharpie? While I'm not a big auto collector, I've always thought that ballpoint looks way better on vintage cards. I'd be curious to know what others think.

I just noticed your set for the first time. All I can say is wow.

As someone who has been working on an 87 Topps signed set off and on for a few years I can't even imagine what it takes to get as far as you have in this set!
