It looks a lot better then I thought it would in person Scotty, of course a week after I buy this one the Reese I wanted more gets moved from an ebay store to a 5 day auction. Not exactly sure when I'll hit 200, I know I will be getting Willie Mays this month, there are 2 on Mickeys I could buy I'll have spent about $700 on my set in December/January so I should probably just buy them because hey whats another $20. Maybe they will be a "birthday" present to baby T.

I got these in the mail today from Mickey's Sportscards. Both are still living but Preston Ward no longer signs and with Thomson buying a signed card was about the same as sending one out ttm. These two take me up to 200/225 and I should have two more big updates this week.

Congrats on 200 Talmers!!

Good luck with the last 20 or so......

Questions for you-

Do you have any concerns about the authenticity of any of the 200 you have in hand?
Do you keep track of where/how you have obtained each auto?
Can you let us know who you still need? I think Ted is on the list :o

Questions for you-

Do you have any concerns about the authenticity of any of the 200 you have in hand? For the most part I have bought the majority of the deceased players from reputable autograph sellers, I'd say if I had to pick one autograph that I had to question it would be the Bobby Avila that I bought recently. I do have plans on getting my set completely psa/dna slabbed but as you can atest to that is a very expensive undertaking and will take me a while to get them all done.
Do you keep track of where/how you have obtained each auto?I really wish I would have kept better track of where/how I obtained each card and how much I paid for them. Everything is in the memory bank and I can tell you where I got each card but may have forgotten exactly what price(but can give you a ballpark range) or forgotten the name of the ebay seller on some.
Can you let us know who you still need? I think Ted is on the list :o[ Ted is still on the list he will defintely be the most expensive one in the whole set when I eventually find him, I saw a partial set on Robert Edwards Auctions that sold in 2005 that had the set at 224 card because they didn't count Williams but I do. As far as the ones I still need here they are the ones I have incoming are off the list most of what I am missing are very tough to find.

Thanks for the questions!

You would think the Ford and Berra would be easy to knock off that list since both do signings through their websites. I dont think the cost is very expensive either...although 50 bucks for a auto is expensive for me!! :)

You have made huge progress on this set. I cant believe you are at 200!! The building of this set has been fun to watch!!

Re: 1954 Bowman Signed Set Thread *Updated 1/26* 88.8%!! Done

Thanks for the comments guys. I actually just sent out a Berra that was graded a 5.5, I still need to pick up a Whitey Ford to get signed, I had one at one point in time but wasn't happy with the condition of the card so I didn't get it signed. They are both easy signatures the bigger deal is every time I have the money to get them I come across deceased players that I can't pass up. For example in the last month I have spent about a thousand dollars on my set and I still am closing a deal for Gil Hodges this week.

Re: 1954 Bowman Signed Set Thread *Updated 1/28* 91.5%!! Done

Huge mailday for my set today. First Willie Mays which I bought a PSA 5 copy off ebay for $125 and cracked the slab then sent it to 17Rockies12 who got it signed for me at the Tristar show in Houston for the $300 signing fee. I then found a guy who has a large inventory of signed vintage cards. I was able to buy 5 from him and have a chance to eventually get Roy Campanella and Nellie Fox from him as well. Next ones on the list are finishing up the last 2 living players Yogi Berra and Whitey Ford and finalizing a deal for Gil Hodges. The Prices I paid and Year of Death for the others I got today are broken down below:

Marion Fricano- died in 1976- paid $75- Fricano is tough because he lived the majority of his post career in Mexico including passing away there.
Sammy White- died in 1991- paid $30
Granny Hamner- died in 1993- paid $25
Steve Bilko- died in 1978- paid $85
Bobby Young- died in 1985- paid $125- This is the first Young autographed card I have seen and big because this set started as an Orioles signed team set and I'm down to just one more Oriole Clint Courtney.

Great additions Talmer. The Mays is a great beautiful, but that signature looks atrocious. I'm guessing he isn't in the best of health.
