Any vintage experts out there that know about these? How rare are they....what kind of premium, if any, is there for them...why are they blank?

They might have just missed the part of the printing process for the back of the card at the Topps printing plant. Someone might pay more for the card because of the missing printing. Check with the people on the Net54 vintage forum.

You can find a lot of years with blank backs. Some may be more common that others. I think I have a 64 Hodges that is blank backed, that was graded by some off brand company back in the early days of ebay. it's listed as a proof. It's possible some sheets were used as tests/proof for printing and somehow ended up in the hobby. Other times, they get packed out because of some sort of printing malfunction that was never caught. They are always going to be considerably harder to find than their correct counterparts, but the market for them is somewhat specialized, with only certain folks willing to pay a premium for them it seems.
