Can someone please clue me in on why ebay sellers are wanting so much for 1987 Fleer wax boxes? I thought I knew a ton about this hobby, but certainly can't understand this. Are people anticipating a HOF induction for Barry Bonds? I am putting together sets from my childhood collecting days and the junk wax I have been buying has come at 1/3 or 1/4 of these prices. What gives?

Big difference between the auctions/BiN's listed and completed sales. The bids for the auctions seem in line with the completed sales and not too out of whack.

Even back in the late 80s, 1987 Fleer was always considered a little more rare than other main issues. Consequently, when Will Clark's card values peaked, it was his 1987 Fleer RC that was listed at $35, while the Donruss and Topps could be had for under $10.

Then, back in the Barry Bonds RC explosion during his 2001-2004 MVP years, his Fleer RC in BGS 9.5 was selling in the $1000-1400 range and PSA 10s sold in the $600-800 range. Speculators began hoarding the cases of Fleer that they could find, and lots of them disappeared from the market for a while. The people that bought those cases therefore paid a ton for them, and aren't going to let them go cheaply. The market will come down some eventually, but people were paying $2000 a case for wax just six years ago.

Give me money and I'll take your 1987 fleer.

It might be a bit more rare but wasn't 1987 topps the most over saturated wax eva?
