Pretty funny item. Gotta give him marks for effort in trying to cash in on Jeter's popularity. Calling it a "newspaper printing plate" and not claiming it's a plate used in making the actual card was clever, and ought to protect the seller if the buyer thought it was the latter and files a dispute.

I can't imagine why someone would bid that high for it though.

Looking at the junk this guy sells, and the prices he is getting is mind blowing. I saw (3) machados that are worth about $.50 each, and that are "graded" with $200 stickers on each are at like $25 already. Just nuts

He has 1959 printing plates too. I wonder if those were inserted in the packs back then???

How could you print with a print plate if it wasn't reversed? It would have to be a mirror image unless you go through the back of the card..?

It is called off-set printing, most cards are printed that way. The ink is transfered from the plate, to a rubber mat, from the mat, to the cardstock. So it is mirrored on the rubber, but correct when it transfers to the cardstock.

That makes sense. I would argue with Topps calling those printing plates personally though. That's just me though I'm sure hah. Thanks for the info!

$265.00, hope we don't see it in the Show Your Jeter thread!
