the following:
the back of the card doesn't say anything about it being auto'd right?
and there are digits on the back of the card, but it doens't say ***/***, it just ***. is that right? how do you know the print run? and how do you know if it' authentic, as i know donruss often released cards where only the first *** amount were auto'd

The regular autos (red) had a print run of 3900, unless noted by Donruss. The Millenium Marks (green) had a print run of 1000, and they were serial numbered, but not ***/1000. Same goes for the Century Marks (blue); print run of 100 and numbered, but not xx/100. I know that Beckett had a print run listing for the cards that had less than the official print run announced by Donruss, since a lot of players only signed a handful and returned them, if at all.

Correct.
Not all players have the same print run.
I case of Ripken, his Green Millenium Marks Auto is SERIAL numbered /375. (Mine is 181/375 to be exact)

Some did slip though without autos and without serial numbering.
SO if you are worried about authenticity, just buy ones that are in fact serial numbered.

As a true player collector, I have both... ;)

so- only the autos are serial numbered? if it's auto'd with no serial, it's fake?
and how do you know what it's #'d out of, if there is no 0073/xxxx?

Card 1998 Donruss Signature Autographs Century #93 Cal Ripken /100 (Blue)
Card 1998 Donruss Signature Autographs Millennium #95 Cal Ripken/375 (Green)
Card 1998 Donruss Signature Series Previews #26 Cal Ripken/22 (Gold)

They have examples at Beckett of what the 3 look like.. The scans they use are too small to read though..

Well, as the names imply, Century Marks=100 and Millennium Marks=1000. According to both Beckett and Donruss, the base autos were supposed to be /3900 (no serial number), Century with 100, and the Millennium with 1000. However, I believe the way Donruss intended was that the Century and Millennium were in the same group; meaning that out of 1000 cards, the first 100 were the Century Marks and cards 101-1000 were the Millennium Marks. I could be wrong on that last part though.

I just thought about this....

some stars have no red regular version? A-Rod, Jeter, Ripken? Only the Mill. Marks and Cent. Marks and Preview in Ripken & A-Rods case. Right?

So to complete A-Rod I would need...

Millennium Marks auto /375
Century Marks auto /100
Preview /23

Correct?

Donruss Signature Series was the name of the set, with an auto in every pack.

Donruss had a product called "Donruss Signatures" where every pack had an autograph in it if I remember..
