What I know about these cards...

-Inserted in order packets. 2-3 cards per packet (?), all insert cards, no base.
-Labeled "Rookies & Chase" instead of "Rookies & Stars" ('Chase' implied gambling so they changed them).
-Marked SAMPLE in big letters on back.
-Seen multiples of several specific cards/players but zero copies of others.

Considering some of the amazing oddities I see in the Frank Thomas, Ripken, McGwire, etc threads, I'm hoping that someone might have a lead for some of these.

Ever since the store I was working at in 1998 received our order packet, I have been on the hunt for the Brad Fullmers. According to Beckett, Fullmer has Freshman Orientation, Major League Hard Drives and Ticket Masters (w/ Vlad) samples.

Does anyone have any leads on these? Maybe know a good source?

Although I tried to search for it and it no longer comes up, a few months ago, a seller on ebay was unloading a really nice Brad Fullmer collection. Tons of autographs and almost every serial # card he had. He wanted $250 for it. He also had the promos, Freshman Orientation and Major League Harddrives, to they exist. I really thought I had it in my ebay favorites, b/c I wanted to see what the collection sold for, but I can't find it.

I have an unopened box of that, anyone interested?

Singles of the samples only came in order forms, not boxes or packs. I think you mean the regular-issue, Leaf Rookies & Stars.

That was/is my collection. We were extremely tight on money and I put it up to gauge how much interest it would get, hoping that someone would bite but I think it only received 1 low offer over 4-5 months. I'm actually really glad it didn't sell. I put a lot of work into collecting Fullmers over the years and when I look at all the awesome player-collector and 90's insert threads, it reminds me of how much fun it was chasing his cards. So I've decided to re-open the collection and fill in the gaps.

Oh, and it didn't include the Leaf Rookie & Chase promos, lots of other stuff like 1998 Select and Donruss Preferred promos and oddities, just not those.

Oh, ok, I could have sworn it had those promos in it. I had an ebay favorite search for promos and that's how I found it. It must have had another promo in it that made my ebay favorite search find it.

Heck of a collection, by the way. It had everything in it. Tons of autographs!! I almost wanted it just b/c it was so complete and I don't even care about Fullmer. I'll keep an eye on the other 2 Fullmer's. I have ebay favorite searches for those promos, so if I find something, I will let you know.

Thanks, I appreciate it! Pretty much every cent I earned from 1996-1999, went to Fullmer cards. I used to call up and harass all those guys like BA Murray, that had ads at the back of the annual beckett guides, looking for new stuff. Burbank sports cards has 4-5 Fullmers that I have wanted forever, but I am just not ready to shell out that kind of cash. Getting close though!

Maybe you could lead me to a few other promos...

-1998 Pinnacle Certified (Mirror Red? Is it just the mirrors that exist?)
-1998 Studio Gold Press Proof Samples

I've never seen a Fullmer copy of either, but they are listed as existing.

And, if anyone on these boards collects Ray Lankford, I believe I have a 1996 Leaf Steel Promo of him. Originally, I thought it was the bronze but now I am not too sure.

Nice cards! So it seems that 1998 Pinnacle Certified Samples are all mirrors of some type?

I know that Fullmer also has a promo version or versions of his 1998 Crusade. I'm sure those will be just as much fun to track down.

Fullmer has all 3 Crusades.

There were several Mirror Sets made for the 1998 set, they are not promos; they should have been destroyed/never printed. About 1-10 sets exists.

Gotcha. "Unreleased" issues. But the 1998 Certified cards are all mirrors, right? No base versions?

I have 3 copies of the 1998 Select Fullmer, 1 is a PSA 9. Great-looking cards.

So, to be clear, there are all 3 types of the Fullmer crusade available as non-serial-numbered versions? Or do the Crusade have *** on back?

I think they all have serial numbers, they were in R&S so not reason not to be numbered.

Oh, I know about the pack-issued Crusade Fullmers, but apparently he has either unnumbered (aka back-doored) or Sample/Promo versions of the Crusades as well. One of which sold on ebay in the last year, but I cannot recall if they were stamped *** or SAMPLE or not stamped where the serial-number was supposed to go.

I have the regular Crusade Set and the Series 2/prototype/backdoored/whatever you want to call them Crusades of my favorite player. None of the Series 2 backdoored Crusades have a serial number or ***, its just blank where the serial # should be.

Do the back-doored versions come in all three colors?
