That entire article oozes with pessimism.

Could this be the first draft where a majority of the 1st round doesn't sign? That would be something interesting.

This one really baffles me. Why pick him if you know your organization doesn't dish out money like that?

13. Grant Green, Oakland A's: Boras client No. 5, so the expectation is he's seeking an above-slot deal. He and Ackley might be tied together as the top college bats in the top half of the round (the argument could be made that Tony Sanchez was a signability pick). There haven't been any financial discussions between the Grant camp and Oakland to date.

As it says in the article, Mayo didn't have the opportunity to speak to Boras before printing it.

Obviously no news from him equals bad news, at least in his eyes.

Basically, I could have wrote that article. Mayo should have just said I dont know anything because I read nothing that I didn't already didn't know.

Matzek is playing ball with the Ducks and working out with the Ducks. Not just living on campus.

There now you have more info.

Mayo thinks Matzek, Purke and (maybe) Tate won't sign, according to his Twitter page.

From what I've heard from mutual high school friends, James will definitely sign

Are you kidding me, Crow has to take the 3 million from the Royals. He has no leverage at all... Whats he going to do go play another year of independent ball? Its not like he can do anything to improve his draft status most likely...

Has anyone seen an update on Jeff Malm? I have been searching and searching and the last article I saw was from mid-July saying there was no indication either way.

Thanks

I'd sure like to see him put pen to paper, but everything I've read tells me he's going to be difficult to sign.

Looks as though MLB wants to hold off on the official announcement, so as not to affect other 1st round signings.

yea no problem. I think he said it was around 3.8. He is also not showing up on any rosters. Hmmmm. Collusion issues by MLB?

What? So he is not with a team now, so he is just throwing on his own then?

he has not been assigned to any team per MILB and BA.com's player finder. I wonder if MLB asked the Giants not to assign him for a few weeks so that the bonuses could be put "more in line"
I am not much a conspiracy person, but I think this is kind of "suspicious" would everyone agree?

I don't really want Minor to sign, I'd rather have the pick next year.

It should be noted that both Crow and Tanner Scheppers aren't bound by the 8/17 deadline. Both are considered to be the equivilent of college seniors, and have until June 2010 to sign.

Supposedly the Phillies have gotten Jake Stewart. It should be around a million. They are also close with Susac which should be 750,000 to a million. i also think Brody Colvin will sign for around the same price as Susac.

Not first rounders, but all could have been.
