I would like to see a WORLD draft. No more Japanese, Cuban or other countries players going to the highest bidder. If you want to play Major League Baseball go into the draft.

I haven’t thought much on the second rule change. If I think of something I’ll post later.

What kind of pro ball player from Japan is going to want to go into a draft where he would lose all leverage in contract negotiations as well as have zero control over what team he would be going to?

I just wanna point out that, for scheduling purposes, there cannot be odd numbered teams in either league.

Ask the NFL before the Texans came into the league (there were 31 teams at the time...). The NHL for a long time had 21 teams before expansion in the 90's. The NBA had 23 before 90's expansion. It is possible.

If there were 15 teams in each league, if each team were to play five interleague series of three games each, that's 75 total series that can be evenly spread throughout the season. It would mean that at any point in the season, whether it's opening day, or last day, there will have to be an interleague series.

The baseball season is 26 weeks long (182 days). Each team gets 20 days off. Based on 162 games, every team plays at least 54 three-game series. So there may be weeks where there may be more than one interleague series going on at a time. The only downside is that there won't be times were all 30 teams play interleague games at the same time. But hey, it's still is possible to schedule and play with odd numbered teams in any league.

Yes, with increased interleague play spread across the entire season, it is possible, but that is a scheduling headache that the MLB and fans don't want a part of. NFL scheduling is child's play compared to that.

No way players association / MLB going to allow 8 teams in each divsion

They want as many teams as possible to make playoffs and as many teams to stay competitive for as long as possible throughout the season

With 8 teams in division, some teams might be out of it by June (too many other teams to climb over)

Also, MLBPA/ MLB won't allow team on east coast to play in west coast division. Think of the amount of extra traveling that team would have to do to honor its division schedule

Also not sure if they want to put Cubs/Sox, LA/LA, NY /NY in same division

4 leagues, each of 8 teams, like Pacific, Central, Eastern, and Southern

Pacific -

Oakland
Seattle
LA (AL)
LA (NL)
San Francisco
San Diego
Colorado
Arizona

Central -

Chicago (AL)
Chicago (NL)
Milwaukee
Cincinnati
Minnesota
Cleveland
St. Louis
Detroit

Southern -

Atlanta
Florida
Texas
Houston
Tampa
Kansas City
Expansion Team
Expansion Team

Eastern

New York (NL)
New York (AL)
Boston
Toronto
Philadelphia
Pittsburgh
Washington
Baltimore

Benefits: Return to the old playoff system (meaning actual value to the pennant race)

Nerf, check out your southern division and the history of the teams that would be included in that division ----Do you think the Braves would love it or what??? Tampa had breakout season but before that ???, Houston, Florida, TWO expansion teams, Texas, and KC!!!!!!!!

5th umpire in the booth (faster instant replay. don't even need much of an instant replay, if the 5th umpire sees it's a wrong call, he can simply over-rule it)

even out the al and nl divisions. (we have six teams in the nl central)

But none of those teams are going anywhere...

Any reason the Pirates are in the Central but the Phillies are in the East? It doesn't balance things any better, as it would just make the NL East six teams, but it'd be cool to get an explanation.

There are 16 teams and 16 isn't divisible by 3...I meant they weren't going to the AL.

You want to fix the NL Central it's pretty easy to figure out. Lets see which one doesn't belong:

Chicago
Cincinnati
St. Louis
Houston
Milwaukee
Pittsburgh

Just move the Astros to the AL West and every division will have 5 teams. I know Houston isn't in the West either but either is Arlington.

Again, neither league will allow an odd number of teams. To do so would mean that either every day would have to be an off day for at least one team, or interleague play would have to stretch over the entire season. WAYYYY too big of a scheduling headache for MLB.

I'm pretty sure NL teams are allowed a Disabled List. If you're suggesting adding the DH to NL teams, then please don't let the door hit your rear on the way out.

How about eliminate the DH and make AL pitchers take bats. That'll make em think twice about throwing sweet chin music.

no sense in piling them all up in one huge stinkpile, gotta spread it around.
AL west only has 4 teams, St.Louis is the American Gateway to the West,
sounds like a plan to me..

Oh come on Kevbo, you just want the Cardinals out of there because they beat the Brewers so much.

Cardinals, Cubs, Brewers, Reds all belong in the central.

The Pirates or Houston could move for all I care, east or west. Pirates in the East division, and the Astros in the West division.

I know that won't happen, but it's a lot more logical than the Cardinals moving, considering St. Louis is pretty much as "central" as you can be.

First off, no. Just take the DH out of baseball. It'll make pitchers in the AL bat, just like the NL, and it'll make people who make a living by hitting 4 times a game learn how to field.

Having world series games in the afternoon would be a horrible idea. I know that's how it used to be, but the World Series is in the fall, where during the day, almost everyone in America is either working, or at school.
