So I've been out of the hobby for a little (year or two)...been slowly getting back in, mainly just enjoy busting packs. Bought a blaster of Platinum before, pulled a Jesus Montero Ref. Auto Redemption. While picking up an Rx at Target today, saw they had the new Bowman Platinum racks in (also had the DP&P, but decided to go with platinum).

Got a few nice Purple Rc ref's (Jesus Montero, Mike Minor) and Youkilis/Desmond Jennings Gold Parallels /539

Anyway.... 2nd pack of the first rack in....BOOM.

Miguel Sano Red Ref. Auto #ed 3/10 (1: 5860 odds!)

I'd love some advice from some of the more in-the-know prospect guys. I've checked past ebay sales...no reds have appeared. I definitely want to/need to sell it. What could I put the BIN at? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Put something like $500 BIN w/BO with a scan (not a photo) if possible and see who bids what. I think something around $200 should be expected, but you never know.

It very well may be the only Red in retail, so you'll have some time before competition hits.

I'd put a BIN of 750 on that...

Miguel Sano is the top international prospect right now. All thirty major league teams expressed interest in him including the Red Sox and Yankees. He's about 6'3' 200lbs. He's a prospect that is also just 17 years old. According to some scouting reports, his pro potential has a high ceiling leaving him with alot of room to get better. His skills are a bit raw, which is why the Twins will most likely take their time with him.

He's from San Pedro de Macoris, DR. It's the same impoverished city that Alfonso Soriano is from. The kids there have two options, work at a young age in order to help their families survive, or hit their way off the island by crushing the baseball.

Last time I checked, he was in Rookie Ball at 17. I personally would hold the card, because he is still so young and has plenty of time to mature. I was fortunate to pull the Sano auto and a Brett Cecil Blue refractor auto patch relic /50 from a platinum blaster. It is nowhere close to the pull that you made. Congrats!

Best of luck! Here are some links on Sano:

Nice card. Man I would have liked to hit that thing. And just so you guys are aware. The wife bought me one of those and when she handed it to me I could tell the bottom 2 packs seems a little thicker then the top one. And when I open mine I had 2 different refractors. So these can be searched very easy.

OP I was not say you searched it was just an observation I had mad before I opened the packs

My scanner is broken...unfortunately I'm going to have to throw it up with a photo, for now, unless I can get it fixed.

Right now I'm heavily debating whether to throw it up with a high BIN/BO or let it run free with a 10 day auction, seeing as how Hobby is not coming out until at least January 7th (according to blowout). I'm really conflicted, as I haven't really sold a card of this magnitude before...the only thing that I can compare is when I pulled a Joba Bowman Chrome Auto ref. rc, right as it came out, but with that I just immediately threw it up and someone hit the BIN.

Thank you for the details...I was hoping to get some info like this out of the post. I'm definitely not holding though...can't afford it.

Funny you should say that...I actually have superstitious "slots" that I grab of blasters/packs that I stick to. But upon opening the first rack, I could tell one was a little thicker than the others, so I set it for last. Thinking nothing, I opened the 2nd "skinny" pack and out popped the Sano. In the thicker pack was just some worthless refractorish parallel /999. It was like that with the 2nd rack I opened too. So moral of the story, thicker does not always= better.

Well, I decided to throw it up with no reserve. I already got 1 offer to end it early- for $80! I'm debating it...the money is too good to pass up. ::facepalm::

It is enough to pass up, when the auction will go for more...much more.

Best of luck in whatever you decide!

Don't take the $80. You're leaving a lot of money on the table.

I'm sorry, I guess it wasn't clear...I was trying to be sarcastic. The $80 offer was laughable...especially since its higher than that with over 3 days to go.

Guess I'm a bit late to tell you but for cards over $100ish, your ebay fees are less if you use the bin/bo option. I guess that's where they catch you with the free listings.

Also, I just got a sano gold auto as a replacement today for a damaged teheran gold auto from topps and have been wondering the same thing. I wanted to buy sano when '10 bc came out but never bought anything due to the high buy in. I think I'll be selling mine as well.

Yeah, too late for that. Only a day and a half left...

Btw, if you do decide to sell your Sano, mind waiting a day and a half to list it ;) . Good luck, should fetch a pretty penny.

Eh, I'm lazy. I wouldn't be surprised if it took me two days before I even scan it. ;) Come to think of it, I may wait until ebay bucks come out to list. :D
