Mac - give it up bud. He was a one-dimensional player that wouldn't have even had that one dimension if not for (admitted) roiding.

Facts is facts *****, sorry.

Also someone coming close to pitching two no-hitters in a row is a FAR cry
from someone actually doing it, let alone pitching 3 to break the record.

Henderson - ;)

McGwire was a HR hitter. One aspect to his game , I'm not denying that. Hall of fame career, no I always admit that.

But you can not disagree that the HOF has been watered down with guys like Dawson who were not DOMINATING players of their era. That's what I think IMO makes you a HOF'r. Andre Dawson did not dominate his era nor was he the best at his position
He hit over 30 HR's 2x and had 4 100+ RBI seasons.
Good? Yes, Very good Ehh,
but Hall of Famer, no sir.
not that this has anything to do with this thread, but if you wanna play this game, sure why not?

Dawson = HOFer whether you like it or not
McGwire = not a chance in hell because he's a ******* cheater

Dude,

Dawson has a decently impressive resume. I don't think from any angle should he be brought up for "not belonging". He's pretty far down that list.

8x All Star
NL ROY
NL MVP (87)
8X GG
4x SS
5x Top 10 BA
4x Top 10 Runs Score
6x Top 10 Hits (including leading the league in 83)
3x Top Doubles Hit
4x Top Triples Hit
9x Top HR Hit (including leading the league in 87)
8x Top 10 RBI (including leading the league in 87)
2x League Leading XBH (his career is ranked 25th overall)

He was also a pretty big fan favorite.

Oh, and he did it without PEDs.

3 I agree with, but coming within 9 outs of two in a row is close. I can see someone eventually sharing the record. At least it's still a possible record to break. The other pitching records are basically impossible with the current state of the game.
