Hello everyone,

I spotted a Griffey Jr and put it in the Griffey Jr Collectors thread topic by accident and decided to start a topic to gain some info of "rarity" I guess on these as they look really cool and seem to be only 1 copy of the players they choose. I saw where some others sold not too long ago so it seems they actually are kinda rare but wanted to get some opinions/advice before I went after a couple...

Here's the Griffey Jr I found for reference but the seller has others up too, like Frank Thomas, George Brett, Mattingly...

I am not sure how others feel, but I put very little value in the fleer bankruptcy stuff. There may only be 5 of a certain card, but how can you confirm that. Someone may be sittion on a box of 1000's and just not putting them out for public sale.

I would think they would follow the lines of many of the show stamped cards that are stamped to 5. They are rare, but hold little value in the collector community.

Yeah I wasnt sure either so I contacted the seller and he bought them directly from a dealer who bought out the entire collection of the proofs from the Fleer Bankruptcy stuff and he said was "shown & assured" that there was only one of each player as I think he said only like 5-10 sheets total that were designed with various players intended to compose the entire set...

I went back and did some looking and saw the Rickey Henderson sold for $150-200, the Puckett for like $250, etc...

The cards that never got released are the ones of value. I got a bunch of different ones, but most proofs on eBays are just cutouts from mockups.

I was wondering the same if they even made the actual cards in a proof version, but again after talking with the seller they never even got that far to making these into cards for proofing/revision, just the proof design cards...Im still thinking of grabbing a few though after seeing the Puckett pull $250 or so and Rickey Henderson bringing $175 or so...

There are currently almost 800 fleer "proof" cards listed and almost 700 in completed.

http://completed.shop.ebay.com/i.html?r ... 86.c0.m283

You may call them fake, but they all came from the same hotel auction. The owners who bought in at the auction would be doing well, if it were not for ebay fee's. This is 6 years after the auction. How many items have been sold since 2005?

I bought a ryan about a year ago that was packaged out and was supposed to be numbered to 5. It was not stamped, it is the only one I have ever seen and I have a search set up. If i sold it, I do not expect to get anywhere near what I would get for the actual stamped card.

Ryan has a lot of cards from this and if I was at the auction I would have spent a lot to pick it up, that said if they come on ebay I don't touch them. What it did do was put many fleer printed cards out with fake gu/autos inserted.

Now I have no proof on any of this but i will continue to take my stance. If anyone can come up with a sell sheet of the auction and prove that it is real, i will give them $50. If this happens, it should put the matter at rest.

Keep looking, you never know. I found these and only 3 surfaced since Fleer's bankruptcy. I own 2 and rebelpawn owns one.

No idea what cards you are looking for but here is the auction list

https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&pid= ... l=en&pli=1

And pictures of the lots

My guess is that lots around 2038 contained the uncut cards.

I have a Tom Seaver front and back from this set that came with a card I needed that I'd be willing to unload if anyone was interested. I don't have a scan handy but could get one if anybody wants to see it.
