These cards, 2003 Topps 205 Topps Team Legends were supposed to have been inserted 1:70 packs according to the odds on the box. I opened a case of the first series and never got one of these autos. Does anyone have any info on this? Thanks!

I'm not sure about them being inserted in Topps 205, but I think they were like the Topps Blue Chips autos also from 2003.

I know with the Blue Chips they were inserted in many differant products in differant years. I pulled a Greinke in 2006 Topps Series 1.

I just found this on a site selling boxes of 205.
"Autographs 1:74 (Topps 205 1:122 and Team Topps Legends 1:609),"

It also said..
"Safety Warning: This Product is for Adult Collectors. It may contain sharp points, small parts that are choking hazards, and other elements that are not suitable for children under 4 years of age. "

vwnut is right; Team Topps Legends cards were generic cards produced for insertion across many products. This allowed Topps to pack out the product MTO (made-to-order), but adjust the autograph insertion rates accordingly. If you had pulled one, there would be no way of discerning whether you pulled it from this product or any other put out in 2002 or 2003.

Are you sure about the insertion rate? 1/70 sounds too common for these cards, as that product was only about an auto per box if you were lucky, no?

If you were that lucky, I pulled the odds from an image of the box. I opened near a case of the first series and only pulled 1 auto.

^^^ That is what I found on the internet.

That Davey Johnson IS NOT the correct set.

This is the correct set, but beckett doesn't have a checklist of the cards in the set and I doubt Musuial is the only card in the set. :?

Yeah, I thought that the 2003 Team Topps cards were reprints (just as they were in 2002).

That Musial was definitely not the only one inserted in Topps 205, nor was Topps 205 the only product into which the Musial was inserted. These cards were thrown into sets in 2002 and 2003 as needed just before pack out.

For a complete relic/auto set, would you think that I need these autos since there listed on the box?

I misread the image I guess.

I would say no, as the same cards, which have a design totally different from 205, can be found across many sets. I view them as "filler" hits, not part of the set by any means.

Those 6 would be bad enough. Do you guys think that I should try to get them for my auto set, or would it matter?

Topps Team legends were inserted in many different brands and I am pretty sure that the same card was often inserted in multiple different brands. So if you want them for your set get them but I don't think anyone really considers those cards part of the 03 Topps 205 set.
