got a 2003 bowman chrome uncirculated gold refractor /170 for 12.00 dlvd. looked at ebays completed so not sure of the going rate. burbank has one for 100+ but that doesnt help. was his peak after the world series?

That's pretty much the going rate. And yes, you are correct, Burbank's prices are comparable to last years' gas prices.

Not really a steal, but a decent deal. All the Victorino cards that Burbank has are all marked up to ridiculous prices. His peak was after the world series, but I have seen his prices remain consistently higher ever since.

thanks for the help. are you guys still waiting for his superstardom breakthrough season? he got a relatively late start but seems to have a fan following. seems like he could do a 15-20 hr, .300 avg, 50+ steals.

Honestly I think it would take a pretty big season from him to increase his value even more. After having a good season, world series victory, and winning a gold glove last season, it really made his value go up. I remember back in 03-04 when I was like the only person collecting him, his rookie autos went for .99 cents or didn't sell at all. Now you can't get one for under $20. I still think there is room to grow on those too if he duplicates last season or has better stats. We shall see though.

Even though it wasn't a steal, the gold refractor is a very nice looking card. I started collecting Victorino when he was still very cheap, but his recent success has brough his cards up above semi-star prices. I've just gotten used to paying higher prices. Shane could go pretty far and be a lot better than the average outfielder.
