A bit of long-winded background:

I've been collecting 2001 Topps Tribute since it came out. Finished the base set a long time ago and have bought the GU here and there. I'm up to 30 (with one more incoming). There has been a box of 2001 Tribute on ebay for a while, and it has dropped in price to around 260. I thought about it for a long time and almost pulled the trigger on it, but stopped and realized that I shouldn't. I would get almost all cards that I already have, and I could buy two or three of the top cards from the set with that money.

However, the idea of ripping stuck with me. Looking for HOF autos on ebay, I came across a cut sig from this set (2004), did a search and found an unopened box at bbcexchange for 250. I collect HOFers, so I can start a new PC project with this set, and I currently have 0 cards from it. Plus there is always the VERY long shot of pulling a cut auto.

I will start in about ten minutes. I NEVER bust wax so I gotta take my time. I will post the base names and a scan of the hit for each of the 6 packs.

Anyone around?

Good Luck!

Thanks man! I should do this at a time other than Thursday afternoon if I want an audience, but I can't wait. Here goes.

Keep going and good luck. It's nice to see something different opened and I like the checklist compared to what we have been seeing out of newer Tribute.

Recap:

Very fun break and great for a HOF collector. No auto, but that was a long shot. Happy with the 2nd half of the box, getting Ryan, Jackie Robinson, and a dual #ed to 50.

I now have 25/80 of the base set. Anyone have any available?

Great design and fantastic photos. Here's a sample. Thanks for looking!

The nice thing about this set is that even though you didn't get any huge hits or "win" value wise, you still walk away with 6 very nice GU cards of HOFers and great looking base cards.

I agree. For the first time in a long time, I wanna put the base set into pages in a binder.
