Has anyone opened a case of 2005 UD Heroes, or have any opinion on what I can expect from busting and selling? I love the set, and I'd have a great time busting a case (30 tins of 8 cards), but I wouldn't want to get killed. Blowout has them at $1399/best offer, or about $43 a tin.

Am I nuts?

I'd say nuts...

Heros is a 'what have you done for me lately' type set. Each year they are released, they are hot with the set collectors and player collectors, but as soon as the next years set comes out, the previous set(s) are all but forgotten. Unless you do exceptionally well and pull a slew of top tier autos, it will most certinly not be worth it.

However, it probablly would be a fun break!

You can call me Milton
It was a great value a year or two ago. You'll get some nice HOF autos that should be real easy to move the GU might be hard but I think there is at least one real low numbered something in a case with a chance at a cut (I think). At that price I don't see you making money or even breaking even but it would be fun to bust.

Hasn't this set only been done twice? The first in 05 with HOF or retired fan favorites and then in 08 as a regular set with retired stars.

I guess this just goes to show my lack of proper knowledge in the collecting world. I just assumed they were made each year..

I can't believe I'm even considering this, but I am. I'm going to try and figure out the best price I can find. Other than eBay, where should I look? (I haven't bought more than two packs of cards since...um...1993 or so.)

Here are some to look at....

BLOWOUT CARDS $1236/case plus shipping
http://www.blowoutcards.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_49&products_id=695

DAVE AND ADAMS CARDWORLD--Look to be sold out currently
http://www.dacardworld.com/

I would contact Blowout cards and see if they would be willing to list the case on ebay so you can use the live.com discount

TK

Blowout has a case on ebay.

For $1400 or BO......and they have it on their website for $1236....was letting the OP know that he can go at least down to $1236 as an ebay offer since they have it on their site for that...

if you are breaking to keep then hell yes its an awesome break with great hof cards. if you are busting to flip i would pass. you will end up with on card hof autos of many fellas that have little to no following and the middle names wont cover your tin! i was cracking on release and sold a mike schmidt red parallel for <$45>

I would say go for it Drew, seems like a fun break and you might finally be able to finish off the Clark set.

What are the odds of me hitting a Will I actually need? Other than the 1/1's, I need TWO cards. One auto/patch/5 and one blue parallel/10. It would be incredible to hit one of those or a 1/1. Wow.

This is one of my favorite sets as well but the autos only fall at like one per three tins. For the price you are looking to pay for a case you buy one auto of each player in the set with money to spare. As well a lot of the GU jerseys even of the harder to get players. So I would forget the case and buy singles
