I think the Phillies would still take Drabek. Got great reviews in HWB and is still very promising.

I was also looking around your site and this made me laugh.

MRP - Francisco Rodriguez, Mets - Choke artist brings his act to Mets, should fit right in.

Haha I forgot I wrote that - sig worthy quote right there.

As far as Drabek - by no means do I have him as a bust in my book - still too soon for that.

Good list, that is also my exact top 5

Kind of surprising since Laporta didn't sign the first time around.
Yeah, I am guessing he just wanted to finish college, didn't he stay as a gator for four years?

I meant I was surprised that you would have the exact same top five.

Yes he did stay a Gator for 4 years...He was also drafted out of Port Charlotte HS in '02 I believe by the Cubs

I'm not a huge Betances fan to begin with but they are kind of comparable I guess. I think between the two the majority of clubs take Drabek even after TJ. If I remember correctly Betances got hurt as well correct? Betances might have a little higher ceiling but Drabek is more likely to reach his.

Like I said in my previous post, he got rave reviews from scouts in HWB. He seems to have moved back to the top for the Phillies pitching prospects. If the Phillies did pick someone else I just don't think it would be Betances.

It certainly would be out of character for their drafts as far as pitchers - they have started taking raw position players however so perhaps Betances would be in the mix. You're correct - both had injuries.

Why would any team in any draft ever take Laporta over Kershaw?

Manny Burris over Rowell? I know Rowell's stock has dropped, but I would still take him over Burris and possibly a few others who you threw in. Just my .02.

I might be alone in this but seeing Burriss at the MLB level last year he looked to me like he could become a Luis Castillo type in a short amount of time if given a full time role. Granted Castillo isn't the best now but a .300 hitter with 50 steal capability as well as the ability to drop down a bunt is a valuable thing. Rowell could still become something big but I'd say Burriss' ceiling is much more attainable.
