Hello all, thanks to all that participated in the first and second 2007 BDP Player group break. I am going to do it again since it was a nice hit! Everyone loves drafts, and this is a group break with a PLAYER DRAFT. This one is for 2007 BOWMAN CHROME DRAFT. This checklist is amazing and is perfect for this style of break. There are 30 Autos, no signs of the future, and a deep checklist including guys like Heyward, Price, LaPorta, Moustakas, the list goes on.

I am going to set in the details in stone now after seeing how the last one went.
Instead of doing a team break, this will be a PLAYER break. And instead of buying specific players for an amount proportionate to their current perceived value, every player would cost the same amount (awesome, right?). After enough slots are sold at a small, affordable price, instead of randomly assigning teams like other breaks, I will have a mod do a random drawing for a draft order via random.org. A draft will then be held, with the participants of the break being able to select whatever player they want from the checklist when it is their turn to pick (as long as that player has not already been drafted), and then they will get whatever cards of that player are pulled from the case (You may choose to only want the Chromes and hits of you player, in which case you can tell me that after the break. You can even do it for certain picks as well.)

So when you buy a slot in this break, you are not buying a player (although you will inevitably get one of your own choosing, whether good or bad), you are buying a DRAFT PICK. The players you get are to be determined during the draft.

The draft time has not been determined yet, that depends on when the break is full and by a poll of the participants. I want to accommodate as much as I can. If you cannot make it, or would like to submit a pre- ranking list of your players that will be fine as well. You may send me an email to [email protected] with these lists with the subject line: FCB Group Break Player Pre Ranking. This will ensure that I get it and read it. If you are not going to be at the draft and do not send me a list, then I will select a player for you via my PRE RANK LIST. I will be using the last draft as my pre rank list, so please be aware of this!

The draft will be LIVE and will be done in the FCB chat room. When the live draft starts, each person will have 2 minutes to pick. We will also start the draft in a thread once the draft order is posted and see how far we can get until the established date of the draft (similar to the last break). In the 2-3 days leading up, we were able to knock out about 30% of the draft. You are not forced to pick or trade in that time, but the more picks the better! If we knock out a large bunch, I will try to set the draft time early and that way if it is a fast break we can break it that night (I would announce this at the right time).

There are a lot of slots up for grabs in this break. 65 Prospects (base), 45 prospects (futures), 30 AU (prospects), and 55 green MLB RC Logo players. This makes for 185 slots up for grabs (7 players with Base/AU, 3 players with GREEN / Futures). As a bonus, I will give away some slots in a contest run on the hobby talk section (amount of slots to be determined). The Future games are normally not sought after, but be advised, this set has GU Jerseys, GU Bases and GU Patches of the Future Game Players, so do not forget that! Please also note that some prospects have a base and an Autographed card, these will be ONE SLOT. Example: Kyle Lotzkar has a base and AU card, that is one slot! There are only a few of these types of players. 7 players have both. There are also 3 players with GREEN / FUTURE RCs; they are Joba, Justin Upton, and Cameron Maybin; they will also each be their own slot.

You may trade draft picks prior to the draft (there will be ample time for this) and then also trade players after the draft is over.

Arod Road to 500 cards will be randomly selected to be given to one of the participants. Head of the Class Dual AU will go to the player with the AUTO on TOP of the card!

I will need to be notified of any deals so that I can update my records.
If you have any questions, please post here or send me an email to [email protected] or an IM to AdHeSiVeNeSs1.

The pricing structure will be as followed.

$7.00 per slot if you get 1-4 slots
$5.50 per slot if you get 5-9 slots
$5.00 per slot if you get 10+

I did a special offer last time and am going to do a special offer this time as well!

Buy 6 slots get 1 free!
Buy 8 slots get 1 free!
Buy 10 slots get 2 free!

There will be no picking number slots, I will make a list at the end with all the participants and have a mod randomize it.

I think its more that people are getting bored with the same old breaks. i mean how many group breaks have been done on 07 BDP already? quite a few.

I am up for anything, I figured I would just go with what works and since they fill up within a day, I say do them until there is no interest. Obviously there is no interest here so we gotta switch it up, but to what ;)

i'll brag a bit, i thought various hobby boxes with a player draft was a really good idea. there were just some wrinkles to iron out from the break i held.

you can get some really high end boxes in there, some mid-end boxes with nice hits (i.e. ud heroes), etc. mix together HOF and veterans and rookies and you got EVERYONE wanting in.

ken, you should look into doing it. start out with a small one - like 5-6 hobby boxes with small amount of draft picks (like 30 or 40). each and every break you do, you'll learn way to make it better/quicker/more efficient.

I have asked to do this break, sent the email and I have been waiting for a response. I think this is the end of my two week wait.

I agree with this, but I think the better way to go would be a team draft instead. Someone would have to research the product as every person wants to try to get the most bang for their buck. Basically have it come down to whereas if someone has a spot in the bottom five, they wouldn't feel too bad about their investment as they still have a "chance" to pull something nice. The draft slot would be more pricey, but when you have some low end mixed in with higher end product, who really cares? Plus, there is also that chance that even the best players may not get pulled, but the players from the bottom teams.

These breaks are supposed to be fun. A little bit of profit is made from the facilitator which is justified, the people involved don't want to just throw their money away for a chance to get the last picks in the draft. I say we start bringing back the "fun" in the breaks opposed to the money side of things.

We do have quite a few of our break facilitators that are wise and drop out the bottom teams in these drafts. It does raise the prices, but I know I would rather pay $5-10 more for a chance opposed to paying for what could be a slot that contains maybe 1 or 2 craps cards in the entire case. If you do continue to do player drafts, I would say knock out the crappy no good players that just have no value and essentially are no fun to draft anyway. Do like everyone else does and if a parallel version is pulled, pull a name out of hat, etc and then just spread out the base with everyone in the break.

I personally enjoy Player Draft's moreso than Team Draft's/Drawing's, but I understand that there are product's that make the player draft's near impossible & costly (B.Chrome isn't one of them, & it is my favorite when doing the player draft's. Stuff like A&G, Goodwin, or even FB product's as a whole are understandable Team Draft's/Drawing's). Anyhow, I like the idea of a mixed product but it would have to be a team draft/drawing as thier would be different checklist's you would be dealing with & you'd end up with way too many player's to have selected/drafted! Just my opinion...Dave. :D

Just my opinion...Dave. :D

Yes, if you do one product in particular than a player draft is fun. An idea however is to cut down the "draft slots" because I can't name too many people that want to draft a Warner Madrigal Green RC Logo card along with many Green RC's and FGs when doing the BCDP products.

As for multi-products, I think a player draft is almost next to impossible. It was done one time before with multi-products, but I believe those were mostly vet products anyway. I was referring to mixing in vet products along with prospect based products as well. Maybe throw in some Ultimate Collection, Leaf Limited, BC & BCDP and so on. So if you were to get for instance, the Pirates, you would have a shot at some decent retired players or with some older product, Jason Bay autographs. These boxes obviously may not be coming from fresh cases, however if you buy from a reputable seller such as dacards, blowout, charmcity, etc. and show the proof of receipt for what was purchase, who can really say anything beyond that point?
