it really does not matter what the MLBPA thinks about this.

Donruss sealed their fate with Joe Jackson and Pete Rose. Donruss will never have a license again, and I don't think they care.

i'm with you on this one, i don't think they care. can you imagine the money they are making (saving) by not having to pay the MLBPA of MLB licensing fees.

Yet their product is still as expensive, if not more so, as it was a few years ago. There's no reason that prime cuts needs to be $180/box or EEE $75/box.

Prime cuts is a bad example

that price of 180 has been set by the secondary market.

That huge ROOKIE in the middle of the card is hideous. The Contenders design for football better not look like that.

jeff--you are correct in saying they may not need to be that expensive.....but the rules of making of money are plain and simple---if you can charge X amount and the masses will pay it, then you charge that amount. So the only way Donruss will lower the prices is if collectors dont buy it.

What was the direct price and MSRP?

Threads and EEE were around $70-80, were they not?

On the same question--are they really putting the word Legendary over the legends.....is it somehow helping us to distinguish who is a legend and a RC....do we as Baseball Card buyers, not know who is a legend and who is a RC???? Really????

Right. And Donruss is likely making more than they did when they had the license as they don't have to pay for the licensing any longer.

Similarly, Razor set their price point well -- $100 MSRP, $75 direct cost, is a fair price for 10 autographs without licensing. With licensing, it was well over a $100 direct cost product because of the payments necessary to MILB.

Most people don't invest in rookie auto baseball cards because of their aesthetics.

I agree, but when it comes time to sell then buyers would probably prefer the most visually pleasing option if all are similar in print run.

I agree with the above...or at least IMO as well---the cards have to be liked/visually appealing for people to buy them. It doesnt do any good to prospect someone and buy up all his Playoff Contenders RC AUTOs only to find out that everyone likes the elites and threads better because they are more appealing....

and as for the sig, it is very challenging and hard on the eyes to go through and try to find updated pictures of women in the sports world....you guys dont even know how many just non-sig worthy pictures I must go through to find a worthy one.....

I think I've decided, like right now/here today, that all the DLP crap will make it a lot easier to prospect for me, b/c I'm going to stick with Bowman. I teettered over the edge when Threads and then EEE came out (mostly b/c EEE had the design going for them), but this is too much.

If I can find good deals on some of the stuff from my guys, I might grab them; but i think it's back the Chrome for me. Thanks DLP :)

Very true---I have tried to stay away from cheerleaders though---as I dont view that as a sport--though I am sure if there any cheerleaders on this site, I will for sure get an earful from that comment......however, I may have to start searching through all of those pics as I am starting to have problems finding sig worth female athletes.......

i did see a new golfer and tennis player that are surely sig worthy that are up and coming though....

edited for ugliness...

Seriously, thats just nasty. -mod

edited for mods discrimination against manly women: Oh come on - beauty is in the eye of the beholder. SOMEONE out there wants to be with Aysa and Chyna.

Yes, the mods do discriminate vs manly women. I have no problem admitting that. -Mod

LOL---yikes, there is another qualification to being 'Sig Worthy"---not able to kick everyones ass, especially not all of us geeky card collectors......

Wish there were some better pics of Sharapova that dont have some ad name posted all over it.

Isn't this essentially how Donruss lost there license to begin with. Too many products, too many parallels, etc. At least that is what I heard.

I think this could be a good product if the price was 1/4 less than what they want.

srp is $6.00

$6 x 24 = $144, way too much for a prospect product.

Porcello went from having 1 card to having about 15 pretty fast.

Ironically, his few Topps cards will outsell just about all of his many Donruss cards.

Are you sure about that Jaypers?

I Mean Moustakas Auto's From last years EEE sold very well in regards to his Draft issue. And Several of the others from 07 that had exclusives did really well.

I do think his High end Parellels Gold, Orange, Red, Black, and Possibly blue will outsell his base auto but i think the parallel auto's will hold thier own.
