I know you guys in the States dont have these for sale at your McDonalds, but this is one of my favorite sets every year. Nothing like going to McDs for a late night snack and to rip some packs :D

No Crosby though, since he cant appear in a McDonalds product :( but....

Theres a MAF insert this year :D

I'm not too informed, so I have to ask - Why can't Sid be in the McDonald's set?

If anybody happens to get an extra Steven Stamkos or Vincent Lecavalier, I'd be intersted in trading for it. I don't collect much hockey (except Lightning and Ruslan Fedotenko), so I'd love to trade off whatever rookies/inserts I do have.

Crosby has an endorsement deal with Tim Horton's. I don't know if the deal precludes his involvement with the McDonald's set, or if he just opts out.

I normally love the McDonald stuff as it is a unique design, but this year looks like alot of other Upper Deck stuff re-hashed. The Horizons is just Hometown Heroes, the Pride of Canada a design repeat as well. Oh well, 2 more Carters to chase.

I got some of these back in 1998 1999 2000 or earlier I think, when I traveled to Canada for
a company I work for here in the states had a place up there. I still have them I liked these cards

I've heard of the set before, but as an uninformed southerner I'd like a little more info. How large is the set usually? How much do packs cost? Do you have to buy food to get the packs?

Would be nice to see a similar promotion for maybe baseball or football here in the states. I think it would help get at least a handful more people into the hobby, including more kids.

If anyone pulls some Mike Green stuff, you know to holler at your boy. =)

I haven't gotten anything recently and would love to pick up something Canada exclusive for a change. ;)

Well the checklist is up to see the set size. The base set is usually 60 cards, i think. What is really popular though is the inserts. The inserts usually fall 1 in 7 packs and then one of the insert sets is usually harder to get at 1 in 30 packs. Packs cost $1 with the purchase of fries (3 cards per pack). There is supposed to be a limit of 3 packs per purchase, but most McDs just sell you as many packs as you want. You can, in years past, also pull autographs and jersey cards (as redemptions) and they sell for big bucks, just do a ebay store search on "Mcdonalds auto, jersey".

It is a great way to introduce new people into the hobby. Up here in Canada everyone collects these McDonalds cards when they are selling them.

Rumour that there are no jersey or auto redemptions this year? Hope that's not true.

The cards are always great, the downside is the food.

They aren't on the checklist, but given McDonalds insistence that cards be in hand before the product goes live, it might just be a delay on that front. The checklist is out awfully early.
