very nice they kept the NFL field auto and went back to the pull out autos that are actually more like a hidden gem

I really dislike that they have brought back the NFL field and rubber helmet autos. Those are lame ideas that should be axed.

Plus, with the hidden gems, it looks like tapering of the window doesnt fit right with the design of the card. Plus, considering that this is only one of the the maybe 10 parallels of the gridiron gems, and I am scared as to the possibilities of how the other cards will look. They need to realize that any parallel they put of a card has to fit the actual design. 2008 was crap for that. Look at the difference between the dual patch autos out of 50 and the dual patch/football autos out of 50. One fits the design, one doesnt. This set will be extremely similar.

Although some of the cards for this year do look good, like the triple patch of the three rooks, it just cant go up against SPA or Ultimate and expect to contend in the minds of collectors. If you think of Donini's late year calendar with Limited/GridGear/Natty Treas versus UD's SPA/Ultimate/Exquisite, there is no comparison.

If Donini does one thing in the next year, it should be to fire the design and product teams to get some visionary people in there instead of idiots who design a product by looking at the old set and changing some of the designs in photoshop.

Oh, and get rid of the ******* event used footballs. Trash.

Am I the only one who thinks that Gridiron Gear and Threads should be combined? They seem so very similar that they should take the best of both lines and combine them.

I'm one of those people that have never bought much of the stuff, but maybe I'll give it a try this year.

I really like the variety in the product (true for many Donruss products). I like the notion of not knowing what exactly you'll get, as opposed to most releases where it's something like 1 rc auto which you need to be good, and 2 gu'd that look the same - gives no incentive to come back to the product.

I have to disagree, I think both of these sets are very cool. The detail in the rubber helmets & the low #ing (25 ?) make for a very unique card.

I've seen a bunch of nice hits come from that product. If I'm not mistaken the 07 version is rather expensive now.

I've been a fan of GG, and when I get the itch in Wal Mart, I always pick that up as my blaster if it's available.
