Two reasons sets like this don't do all that well: Playstation and X-Box. This product will most likely tank, and I don't believe anyone will be busting wax of it to get their players. Why is this even posted on FCB? I'm off to make an Upper Deck X thread...

Hey...at least upper deck x had die cuts and some really 90's looking inserts.,I respect that set.This one...not so much.

i would want some. except bagwells not in the set. im in the minority but i like it. just like 2004 upper deck power up and 2005 topps hot button. yes. 2 of my fave sets and im still chasing the parallels. how many player collectors can say they have the 1000 point power up or the hot button REFRACTOR of their player??

And by fill, I mean never opened it.

Hey now....

MLB Showdown was my biggest hobby EVER. I played in tournaments across the county. My family literally went on family vacations to California (from NY) for me and my bro to play. In 2005, when I was 12, I won a huge tournament in San Diego and won FREE season tickets to the NY Yankees. They were Loge, and they were amazing.
I have every card ever made except for 2 (promos, HUGE HUGE HUGE reward if anyone could find em, but they're not out there).
So yeah, this Attax looks weird, but Showdown was great for me.

I really loved MLB Showdown from the ages of prob 10-14 or so. Played in tournaments at my local hobby shop and won a bunch of free cards and gift certificates. Participated in two of the state tournaments and finished mid pack both times. It was a blast though

I would say 95% of people on here most likely don't care about this product. What's with the constant defending of it? If I made a 1992 Triple Play thread, would that go over well? Probably not... that's why I would not do it. Most likely, most people here, prospector or not, couldn't care less about this product. Let it die.

Yea, but either way his point stands. Just because it isn't a patch/auto or a bowman chrome rookie auto doesn't mean it doesn't have a place in the hobby. I doubt it will be a success, but I know there are plenty of player collectors out there (myself included) that will pay to get their guys from this set.

Very few sets really try something different like this. Like the idea or not, it is different than base topps, ud, bowman etc...

Why are you worried about what gets a thread and what doesnt? Razor Oval Office has a thread and that isn't even baseball related. I've seen Gilmore post press release info about different sets that he gets from Topps/UD. Why didn't you piss and moan about that?

Okay chill out guys.

I was not knocking anybody for going after this.I really am not.I think its fine to collect what you want.Hell...I have collections of players and cards none of you would most likely want.So the patch auto super shiney bowman auto rookie crap doesn't apply to me either.But I am just one person and my opinion however it may stand represents me and me only.

I think it is cool they are trying for different things but my only question was why do it with something destined to fail like all the others.Admit it.All the other card games like this have tanked.In fact anything thats not Magic the gathering, pokemon, or yughio has pretty much failed in the CCG market.They all phase out.I know topps released this because they figure they can swoop in and hopefully interest this type of crowd but I know its not going to work.

Granted people will be able to get their favorite players.I will most likely try for a base set myself but my question still stands:If you know the game aspect will fail...why do it in the first place?Why not just shoot for something different and unique but possibly in an area that will flourish?

As for Razor Oval office...yeah...I wouldn't want any of that either.While it would be cool to have autos of JFK, Abraham Lincoln, George Washington etc. I would not really want to buy any of the stuff for my collection.I feel if your going for gimmicks in a baseball card set then keep it baseball related.This is not aimed at Razor since that was a stand alone set and it basically was self exclamatory what you were getting but this is more aimed at Topps and Upper Deck.All those political cards go in my commons box and never get looked at again.

Just like this set we are talking about.If I want a CCG...I'll stop in and get the latest magic booster out on the market.If I want to collect baseball cards then I'll buy a handful of whats out.But I just don't feel they should mesh together.Trying to capitalize on something because there is a hot trend and your trying to turn a new leaf and get people interested not only in your initial product but others is not a bad thing.But doing so when you know it won't be a success is just a waste of time and now your making people who normally wouldn't buy into something like this purchase the cards just because they are trying to have a semi complete player collection.I know they aren't forcing you but then again they kinda are.
