I love seeing people say they want 90's style cards, die cuts, and rare shiny cards. Do any of those people buy UDX? That product pretty much hits that stuff right on the head, and doesn't sell at all.

Why does everyone say UDX looks like a 90s style card? They look nice but they're not well designed like the cards from the 90s....and they arent rare.

because I collected in the 90s and this set is pretty much an exact duplicate. A one per box or case insert isn't rare now, give it 12 years and try to find one. That is why 90s cards are rare.

Yeah but aren't the die-cuts one per pack? Die-cuts are worthless. What inserts are one per case? I don't know anything about 09 UDX b/c of how bad the production was of 08 UDX

And there really isn't much imagination in their UDX 1-2-3-4 tier sets. Just reminds me of all the rehashed films/sequels that come out every year. "Well we can't think of anything original so we'll just label this movie Transformers 2"

Because they own Fleer, only UD can make a 90s style poduct.

That time period, Fleer and Pacific were famous for their crazy yet great lazer cut cards with hard to impossible odds.

I know many wont like this, but any retro 90s product will HAVE TO HAVE gu and atleast an auto per box to appeal to todays collectors who demand it (and dealers who demand it)

So on that note:

2010 Fleer Archive Collection
$6 srp with base cards looking like Fleer showcase
Return of Showcase tiers and yes, Masterpieces.
Two GU. one auto a box but heres where it gets retro.
Popular inserts from Fleer's past (any prodct Fleer has made) which were lazer cut will return. Same design, same odds but updated with todays players.

They do look as close to 90's inserts as today's product has gotten. No other product produced similar inserts save for 2008 Stadium club beam team autos. That is why I went after the beam team auto set even though the auto checklist is subpar. The biggest names on it are Haren, Reyes, Hamilton,Papelbon and Strawberry.Sorry...I don't consider Carlos Pena and Carl Crawford to be top tier players.

But the draw to that set was the style. It looked exactly like the old topps stained glass inserts.I am sorry but if they did make a set that even remotely resembles 90's stuff...I am buying it.I am almost done with the set of UDX stuff.I was collecting all 4 tiers of inserts along with all the diecut cards and the base set.I am only missing a few diecut cards as well as some of the inserts.

I also agree that to get everyone even slightly on board to buy a product these days...you have to have autos and game used even if they are pretty irrelevant to the set(i.e. they suck).

Anyone remember Topps Lazer? Forgot the year but the dc's were amazing. Set never caught on, thought it would...

Yea, 1996 i think it was

Yep.I got lucky enough to find a box of football. They had a pretty bad ass Kerry Collins insert in there.I can't remember what the name of the insert set was but when you hold that bad boy into the light...it just blows up in your hand!Good stuff!I love that product.Didn't bat an eyelash about spending $30 on the box either. You take what you can get.

I purchased quite a bit of it but sadly I had to go the retail route. My shop never ordered a single box.I did get one hobby box through another dealer.Pulled a David Wright plate out of it but I can guarantee you I was more excited by the normal cards.
