This is dedicated to all my other fellow Canadians who have to overpay for anything Bowman. Most retailers here have Bowman, Bowman Chrome, and D&P starting at $75.00 a box, and that tends to be on the cheaper side! Trying to take advantage of the better box/case prices in the US often turns into a Brokerage Fee nightmare turning any savings into a regrettable mistake.

So when I was able to secure a case of the dreaded 2010 Bowman Chrome for under $600, I jumped on it. I don't know a whole lot about these prospects but it's just so much fun to bust. The break was pretty sad, I didn't hit a single top tiered Prospect auto and almost no color. Best prospect auto was a base refractor. I knew Strasburg was a redemption so when I saw the blue paper card in one of the packs, my heart jumped....

Alas it was Simon Castro.

Anyway here's the rundown:

2010 Bowman Chrome Hobby Case:

Blake Swihart USA Chrome Auto
Elvin Soto USA Chrome Refractor Auto /199
Maples/Vanegas Dual USA Chrome Auto /500

Scooter Glennett Chrome Refractor Auto /500
Simon Castro Chrome Auto Redemption
Trevor Reckling Chrome Auto
Wilin Rosario Chrome Auto
Robbie Erlin Chrome Auto
T.J. McFarland Chrome Auto
Eury Perez Chrome Auto
Alex Liddi Chrome Auto
Ryan Wheeler Chrome Auto
Kyle Gibson Chrome Auto
Corban Joseph Chrome Refractor Auto /500

One box was a dud but 3 others had 2, so no complaints. With the wrapper redemption expired, this looked like a disaster until...

I saw another blue paper card in a pack.......

Another Castro?

Slowly pulled the top card down.......

Saw Bowman Chrome Rookie Auto......

Strasburg!!!!!! I was so happy to see his name that I missed the line above it...

RED REFRACTOR /5!!!!

You lucky sonofagun. :) Congrats!!!

...not to try to hijack your awesome story, but your "almost missed the line above it" reminded me of my superfractor pull of last year. This is pretty embarrassing, but I pulled a redemption for an auto out of Bowman Platinum and angrily tossed it into a pile. My shop owner picked it up and said "Jesus Montero! That's a good one!" And I grudingly said "I HATE redemptions tho." The owner looked at it again and said "uh, this is for a SUPERFRACTOR." lol.

Always nice to get excited not once but twice over a card, eh?

Thanks guys, the Sano might go in for grading based on a few positive responses. Never sent anything into a grading company, so it should be interesting!

Congrats! I think I know which buyer you got it from...from RH right? Same guy I use in Canada.

BTW do you or any one else know the safest way to deliver from Canada for high end cards to get full ebay/paypal protection? Always wondered about this, but never pulled a very high end card to actually find out :p

I think it's the same person, this was the first time I had ever ordered anything from them, but will definitely do it again.

I'm not sure what the safest form of shipping would be, I'm mainly a hockey guy and most of my high end sales are within Canada. I have used Fedex to overnight high $1500+ cards to the US, but it's a real crapshoot because you can't insure the package for the full value. I think international insurance is capped at $500.
