Is it worth buying non-auto 20 ct lots of prospects in pre-sale. Alot of them our popping up on ebay an i know a few players i collect have non-auto chromes. I usually only buy auto's of prospects an never ventured into just the chrome version so wanted to know is it worth it to get a 20 ct of the base chrome or should i just buy some blue's and gold's. Any an all help is great.

They shouldn't be considered to be anything more than a cheaper alternative to their autographed cousins.

There are some prospects that don't have Chrome Autos - Castro etc.

As well as the USA chromes.

They are very worth it...but I'm also the seller. 8-)

On a serious note, I've had great success prospecting with chrome lots in the past...but naturally you've got to pick the right players.

yes, it can be worth it...see heyward non auto chromes for ex. superfractors/higher end cards are more 'blingy,' but often, you can make a greater % ROI by buying regular old 'common' base chromes.

ROI is more the word i was looking for. I am looking into maybe picking up some players but one of the players that comes to mind is andrew cashner. my question is he has auto's in donruss elite an bowman sterling an those will be valued more then a chrome. Is it worth it for a player like him to grab a lot or 2 of 20. they probably would never be more then 3 dollars individually each. but if i could get them for pennies on the dollar so to speak it should be easy to break even right ????

you may be surprised. price, laporta, heyward, buchholz, + many others hit $10+/base chrome. sure, ee/sterling fetch more (b/c they're autoed mainly), but you can often make a greater ROI (often w/less $ invested upfront) w/base chromes.

my theory is if it's cheap enough, i'll buy 20 ct base chrome lots....usually a few weeks AFTER release b/c the 1st 20 ct lots often fetch top $ + after 1-3 weeks, the market cools down. 'cheap prospecting' (base chrome lots, refs, etc.) has worked out very nicely for me in the past.

I agree 100%. The key many times though is that they don't have a previous card the year before.

Very much agreed. Some of the best ROI examples I have ever had was from base-lots from a player with no previous issue.

I don't know what you are hoping for on the Jenkins unautographed lots, but I'd be more than happy to go the gift route.

I know this is an extreme example, but a 9 card lot of 2009 Bowman Chrome Starlin Castro just sold for $149
I can't tell you what they cost upon release because I don't remember, but I am positive that those who purchased
20ct lots are raking it in now.
