From GPB Sports blog:
"Meanwhile reigning Gatorade Player of the Year Matt Olson has a future at Vanderbilt if he wants it, but Parkview's Olson could too be selected early in the first round of the MLB draft. Olson came through for the Panthers in Game 3 of the quarterfinals against Hillgrove. The pitcher/first baseman was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs after hitting a home run and driving in three in the Panthers' Game 2 win.

Churchill noted on Olson's ESPNHS profile that the Parkview prospect "has big-time raw power."

What high end Olson stuff do you have?

Also, where are all the nice Olson stuff on ebay? It seems like no one is listing his cards?!

I know the non-auto super was sold this time last summer. I literally logged on to buy it (for $125 BIN), and it had sold overnight. This was right after he committed to VU.

In terms of what I have, perhaps high end is an overstatement, but 2 blue ref autos, gold ref auto, red ref non-auto, a few ref autos, and some assorted Topps usa autos. I bought the red ref for like $20 last summer. Talk about cheap. Of course, if he signs, all is for sale, and I could be able to get a few hundred bucks for my trouble, maybe.

Corbin has generally done a very good job in keeping his classes intact. Price turned down 1.6ish from the Dodgers, Pedro Alvarez turned down 1.9, Mike Minor turned down 900k from the Rays. We have lost our fair share (Westmoreland, Dunston Jr, Kevin Comer, Kyle Waldrop), but we tend to keep signings. I think that it also helps that we have some high profile non-signers on the roster currently, and probably could give Olson a chance at a lot of early PT.

I know that power guys tend not to last long in the draft, but I'm more worried about Rhett Wiseman (who has Perfect Game cards) and Carson Fulmer signing. After we were able to get Beede to turn down the Jays, I think some non-Boston GMs are slightly timid about drafting our commits too high, especially with the new signing rules.

We'll see...

Nice! It's always cool to get "high end cards" (like the red ref) cheaply!

Being in NYC and knowing people who work in the Board of Education...Nelson is NOT the age he is claiming to be...just sayin'...(he's #6 or #7 on my list based on that uncertainty).

Yes, Olson has a POWER bat and a POWER arm...but yet no hobby love!

He's a big boy to play against. Almost took me out at home last summer.

While I understand the "suspicion" on age for Nelson, it still has not come to fruition as being wrong. I think it's a bit ridiculous to say otherwise, especially since he did play for Team USA, which does their own background checks. George Washington HS has always been linked to the age suspicion, and Mandl was suspended for his recruiting practices last season. He always goes after the Dominican baseball player base, since it's what he has at his abundance in the Bronx.

If You're going to speculate on Nelson, then you also go after Fernelys Sanchez. He's been largely linked to speculations about his age and PED's. Again, none have actually come to be true at this point. Mike Antonio and Williams Jerez were in the same "gossip" boat last year out of NYC. Matt Duran was the only player not talked about in a negative fashion, but then again he was a complete overdraft. The local Yankees area scout loves to draft hometown boys early.

I am a NYer as well, and a bunch of my players know both of them well (played with/against them).

Lucas Sims' dad is a good friend of mine and we had lunch last week. Wayne said Lucas will probably sign unless they fall out of the 1st round or compensation round. He is committed to Clemson. Lucas is a helluva of a pitcher with a clean motion..

Are all these kids part of Hanks Yanks?

I played with Antonio for NY 9 for a few tournaments, nice kid. But I do know last year, questions circled around Williams Jerez and his age.

Here is my list given pricing and potential:

1. Corey Seager
2. Albert Almora
3. Carson Kelly
4. Alex Bregman
5. Matt Olson

I added in Bregman and Olson because they are both awesome hitters but are not getting a lot of hype and since they might not sign this year, I think they will be great first round college signs.

Nice list! I really think that a team is willing to show Olson the $$$ and money talks, there is a chance.

Oh, BTW, he was beastly on the mound and at the plate yesterday to help his team win the championship!

This whole thread makes me sad. I unfortunately had to part with my Gold Refractor set last fall due to some money issues. All were 9.5's with the exception of 5 9's(all were .5 from gem). The Matt Olson card is by far the toughest card to find in good shape. Almost all of them are way off center left/right. The Neuse is tough too. I had the Jersey number /50 too. Continue discussing, I will continue to sulk.:(

I remember your set. That was quite the collection of gold labels! Yeah, Olson is the toughest I agree. The damn cutter messed up most of his gold ref autos. I see in the POP that ONE, just one got a 9.5!

So what's e best time to list a bunch of these for sale on the draft? I'm figuring 7day auctions that end next Tuesday, for guys that I am certain will go first or second round. I'm talking about guys like Sims, Olson (some, anyway, since he might be picked high, ugh), Addison Russel, Weickel, McCullers, Dahl, Virant.

Thanks for any advice.

Yeah, that's a good plan. But, I would do the "guaranteed" first round guys BEFORE the draft since most are already hyped up and do the semi-first and second and third round guys to end sometime next week since it's mostly the fans of the teams buying their cards.

GLWS's!
