Maybe Topps is also banking on the casual collector's confusion.
If Strasburg shoots up through the minors, plenty of his cards will generate hype - my guess is he will be plastered on the PD box, pack, ad material et al.
Maybe Strasburg will have a couple of cards in PD, besides an auto.
If Strasburg lives up to the hype, anything with him in 2010 will sell like hotcakes.

It may sway the casual collector who doesn't do 'minor league cards' into buying a blaster or two or even a hobby box or two, if they just want a shot at a Strasburg.

By bringing out an auto in the initial Bowman release, I feel it will really lower the sell-ability of the Topps minor league release.
But on that note, I like the looks of it, and I like that they don't have the facsimile autos of the vets.
