As far as I'm concerned: Taillon.

I'd say Harvey has fallen after the year he put together. The college class looks like it may be below average, the high school class is supposed to be very deep. Anyway, at this point Jameson Taillon would seem like the current #2 prospect.

From the HS ranks, the following are the bigger names, at this point.

Peter Tago
Jameson Taillon
Yordy Cabrera
Michael Lorenzen
Tony Wolters
Marcus Littlewood

I can't take being a mets and knicks fan these days.

It's no 1 pick or bust.

I don't know how u can screw up losing.

New mets and nike slogan. "Just lose"

Dave

You know what's almost as bad as being a Knicks fan? Opening a case of Exquisite and getting an aweseome logo patch and it being a Knicks player.

...especially this one.

Lol. Could sell it and buy a pair of starbury's.

Re: 2010 Draft Order

Here's an interesting conundrum.

Say, the O's somehow finish dead last.

Clearly they'll draft Harper. However, in a few years' time, they'll eventually have to decide who their starting catcher will be: him, or Wieters. Assuming of course he's still around.

I don't see much of a problem with them signing Harper, as Wieters is a Boras guy as well.

That'd be a nice problem to have, but who will take the job?

Well if we're making a list of the bigger names in the class, A.J. Cole, Austin Wilson, Kris Bryant, Stefan Sabol, Nick Castellanos, and Trey Griffin are some of the biggest.

I spoke to Nathan Rode at BA last week about this and here is his HS Top 10 as of right now:
A.J. Cole
Jameson Taillon
Justin O'Conner
Stetson Allie
Karsten Whitson
Manny Machado
Chavez Clarke
Brian Ragira
Nick Castellanos
Kris Bryant
This is absolutely not BA's official Top 10, but its how Nathan personally sees it right now.

I know Cole was ahead of Taillon coming into the season, but to me Taillon seems ahead of Cole at this point, unless you're going by Cole's more projectable body. Allie didn't really impress me and neither did Whitson. I know Allie has the big arm and big power, but what position? Plus he didn't look like that good of a pitcher right now. I'm no scout though. I like Ragira.

I should say that Nathan didn't necessarily specify that these were in order. Cole was definitely ahead coming into this summer, and some scouts do think that he has more projection since Taillon is maxed out physically. Allie is being looked at as a pitcher first right now - probably the most impressive pitcher at the PG National this summer.

Re: 2010 Draft Order

I heard Jon Daniels the other day on the Rangers broadcast say that their pick next year could actually be 13A since there pick this year was actually supposed to be 13, but the Royals had their pick of Aaron Crow ahead of them. So the Rangers might be 1 pick higher. He said he was going to get clarification from MLB.

Ah, gotcha. I actually just went and read the scouting report from the PG National and it says(paraphrasing) "Possibly the best high school arm ever". He just didn't look that good at pitching right now, but it was a small sample size.

You know it, they are sliding away a a pretty rapid rate now.
