After Harper, who goes next?
Nice lefty from Ole Miss?
Nice fireballer from The Woodlands, TX?
Pac Ten SP?

It may not be popular, but I certainly don't think it's crazy to think they'd pass on Bryce. The most talent doesn't necessarily mean the first pick. Heyward went 14th, and people knew how talented he was.
Casey2884 said:I still think the Nats will go with Harper, I think drafting & signing Strasburg last year shows that they're actually serious about building a contender ... and contenders don't pass on generational talents like Harper. Also keep in mind that although the Nats stink, they have no shortage of cash - they offered Texieria a very similar contract to what the Yankees got him for, he (or his wife) simply preferred NYC to DC.
After Harper, I think Taillon goes #2. Pomeranz won't slip out of the top-5 though. Would love to see my boy Karsten Whitson go high too.

#1 and #2 should be Harper and Taillon...the question is only who is first.

Brett Keith said:I'm gonna say Chris Sale, if the Pirates aren't taking Taillon. I think Sale is underrated, mostly because his school. He's a college lefty with a very high upside that has an impressive track record so far. He's been healthier than Ranaudo, has fewer questions about his motion than Pomeranz and has better stuff than McGuire and may be the easiest sign of all of them.

The top mock draft is tough to take seriously. I don't see how a future #3 starter can be taken at #2 overall over all of the other talented arms. Then again, it is the Pirates. I also don't see Ranaudo going in the top 5. His health is too much of a question right now, coupled with the emergence of other talented arms, his stock has dropped.

I've said this since the summer, if I was taking one pitcher I saw all summer on the Cape it would be Sale.

Selier does great work. He is much more reliable than whoever does that second site. The Pirates also drafted Brian Bullington so they love guys like him and McGuire. McGuire is no slouch.
