The top mock draft is tough to take seriously. I don't see how a future #3 starter can be taken at #2 overall over all of the other talented arms. Then again, it is the Pirates. I also don't see Ranaudo going in the top 5. His health is too much of a question right now, coupled with the emergence of other talented arms, his stock has dropped.

Selier does great work. He is much more reliable than whoever does that second site. The Pirates also drafted Brian Bullington so they love guys like him and McGuire. McGuire is no slouch.

The top mock was also done on 3/23 for what its worth, and there are a few players who have really turned it on since then

Also there are so many variables taken into consideration in these mocks. I don't think anyone would argue that McGuire is a better prospect than Taillon but that's not necessarily how teams draft. Plus we are talking about the Pirates here, who have a rather infamous draft history in recent years. It's just a crapsshoot at this point anyways.

Brother Rice HS (where I coached) also has a stud going to LSU (Koziol)
St Rita (alma mater) has a couple studs with the CF heading to ASU (payton)
One of Rita's other studs (Shane Conlan) transferred to naperville

some god talent in chicgaoland area considering baseball season so short here due to weather
