Yes, I know it's extremely early. I haven't really been paying attention to the prospecting world in a while, and I was wondering what rookies are expected to have a big impact on their team this upcoming season. Who would you pick for the AL and NL ROY if you had to guess?

Have a link? I basically just want to see the candidates..

Thanks

Here are a few off the top of my head, although they may have reached the threshold last year (130 AB, 50 IP) i'm too lazy to look right now.

Wade Davis
Jennings
Posey
Heyward
Santana
Escobar
Feliz
Smoak
Bumgarner
Snyder
Alvarez

That should be a decent start.

There are no "candidates." Spring Training hasn't even started yet.

This thread is pointless until April, when rookies are actually on 25-man rosters.

I would say Feliz would be the AL frontrunner at this point. He's going to be on the team all year and if he performs like he did last year he will be solid. He only pitched 31 innings last year...

If Madison Bumgarner gets rocked or injured during ST, chances are he doesn't make the team.

alcides escobar is the brewers' shortstop from day 1. if we're going to throw preliminary favorites out there, he's at or near the top.

He'll definately have the most opportunity (barring injury) to make his case. Starting from day-1 can help smooth out any struggles he may have, if any. Plus, his defense will be on display the longest (not that most voters are smart enough to factor that in).

He could get run over by a late surging guy much the way Tulo was run over by Braun a few years ago.

ROY eligibility is also based on service time (I believe it is 45 days on the Major League Roster), so Feliz may have been considered a rookie in 2009 (Haven't looked it up, so I can't say for sure).
