the Penguins are taking on the Senators in Game 1 at the John Labatt Centre in London, Ontario in the 2010 NHL Rookie Tournament.

a little more than 2 minutes into the game Pens Defensemen Alex Grant was taken off the ice on a stretcher after being hit from behind in the corner by Ottawa's David Dziurzynski. Dziurzynski received a 5 minute major for the hit.

the Sens scored after killing off the Major penalty. Bobby Butler with the goal.

Zach Sill ties the game at 1 with a little over 4 minutes to go in the 1st. Sill is one of the Pens top prospects and most likely will get a mid-season call up to the NHL.

Alex Grant was taken to a local hospital for observation.

There's another tourney in Penticton, BC starting tomorrow with the Flames, Oilers, Canucks, Ducks and Sharks. Each team will play 3 games.

Dustin Jeffrey makes it 2-1 Pens with a short-handed goal.

Jeffrey led the AHL's Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins in scoring last season and has made a few appearances in the NHL. he figures to get a good look at the Pens upcoming training camp.

Eric Tangradi tried to mix things up at the end of the 1st with the player that hit Grant from behind but the refs broke it up right away.

the Pens are too busy lighting up the scoreboard to fight

Zach Sill scored his 2nd goal to make it 4-1 Pens.

Dustin Jeffrey scores his 2nd goal of the game in the 3rd Period.

the Pens won 5-3.

it's great to see all the offense these young guys put up and the defense held strong despite losing Alex Grant so early in the game.
