Hey all-

More of a "lurker" than a poster on these boards but figured I'd share a recent experience I had with this product. Busted a box tonight and honestly, don't think I've seen a better box busted of this product. Not too familiar with the SportKings brand but I must say these cards are gorgeous. A very intriguing box to bust (figures I didn't record it). Sorry for rambling (and I may be off base with the "best box" claim in the title) but any feedback would be greatly appreciated (especially on the cut as far as an estimated value).

The Hits (All in the same box):

Abe Attell Cut Auto 1/1
Marvis Frazier/Joe Frazier Dual Auto Silver
Mike Tyson Auto Gold

Thanks for looking!

Very nice box! I love this product. Pull any gold parallels?

Box was pretty much dead from a parallel point of view. All base cards and regular border Turkey Reds. If anyone has any information on the Attell please let me know. Did some research and it seems as though he was an interesting/relatively historical character.

Nice hit!!! I would love to see a scan of the Attell cut auto if you get a chance to post it.

This one sold for over $1000 in August of 2009:

You have been thanked. I will post all of the hits sometime tomorrow when I finally have time to do so.

Thank you for the scans.

I honestly hate to say it, but I agree those look nothing alike. I don't think a single letter looks even close to it's supposed counterpart. :?

I have seen multiple versions of his signature through some searching, although I must say there really isn't a lot out there to go by. With that said, Attell lived from 1884-1970. The only explanation is that each example in this thread is from a different time period. The first one is clearly signed in green ballpoint, while my example definitely appears to be from an older period (yellowing paper, ink-heavy fountain pen). Unfortunately, there are not enough examples at our disposal online. I have really only started posting here (after being a heavy reader for some time) but I do know that Brian Price, the founder of CCC which produces Ringside, does occasionally post over at the Blowout Forums. Does anyone know if he frequently visits FCB? I'm not really concerned that my copy is a forgery. Thank you all for the input.

I'm not concerned yours is a forgery either. I'm worried about the other one.

Are you going to be selling yours?

If I can get a nice offer in an off-eBay sale I may bite. Otherwise I'm just going to hang onto it for a bit. Thanks again for your help.

Just a quick update:

Sold the Attell cut several weeks ago for $1,000 and change in an off-ebay sale. Pretty much wanted to net $1,000 after PayPal fees so I structured the price accordingly. Props to mwheeler for hooking up the info on the last sale of a similar card so I would have some sort of basis to go off of. I sold it to the same guy who bought the other one posted so I figured I'd better take the cash while I can from an Attell "supercollector".

Congrats on the sale!

If that buyer told you he bought the one I posted a picture of above, he's lying to you.

Perhaps it wasn't the one that you posted. I guess my ignorance just assumed it was haha. He simply mentioned that he had paid a little over 1k for his other one while we were negotiating. Tried to put 2+2 together...but apparently failed.

Thanks again for your assistance!
