Info regarding the forthcoming 2010 USA Baseball Box Set is still sparse (anyone have any info on this release?).
But I did just learn that 2010 SPX will feature the 2009 USA National & Junior National players:
Item: 2010 Upper Deck SPx
Release Date: February 24, 2010
Description: This Hobby Exclusive release from Upper Deck will deliver a wide array of autograph and memorabilia cards from the top September call-up prospects of 2009, alongside the 2009 Team USA Collegiate and 18U squads, providing an unprecedented mix of young talent! Each SPX Baseball 2010 box will deliver an average of 1 Autograph or Autographed Jersey, 2 or 3 memorabilia cards, and 2 or 3 multi-swatch memorabilia cards! Watch for the rare Shadow Box case inserts, stretching the boundaries for how trading cards can be designed. 4 cards per pack, 18 packs per box.

I sent you an email a while ago, in which I told you that Chris Carlin informed me there would be no info available whatsoever on the new USA boxed sets prior to release.

Which makes no sense.

why would people put any money into 18 &u. stupid

Maybe for the profit? I made more on Harper's cards than just about any other player in my 20+ year career in the prospecting market.

I agree. However, it's not the people selling and maing oney that are stupid. It's the fools clamering to get their hands on this stuff like every player is the next Pujols. They're stupid. The ones making money off of these mooks are the smart ones.

This has been the M.O. for most of the prior years' releases. I absolutely hate the secrecy, but they still sell out every year. One example really stands out, the 2004-05 box set. They released the 200-card 25th Anniversary alumni box set in the early fall of '04 and everyone thought there wasn't going to be a national team box set. So I loaded up on those alumni sets only to find out later that a national team set was indeed going to be released, announced just prior to release...

I could understand this way of thinking on UD's part for cheaper issues, but not in the case of a product with a $140 SRP/set.

I heard that this year's issue wouldn't be as expensive... but we won't know for certain until just prior to release.

I've bought quite a bit USA since 2002 (Heck, I supose since 1985 Topps Olympics) and I love the UD USA cards
I continue to pick up autos on ebay on a weekly basis
However, not sure how much I will be buying this year
Not anything against the set, just don't thing I will be using the funds towards the sets this year

happy to see you post again Doc
I always have had good experiences buying from you

I appreciate you saying that. I've been tied up at the hospital with extremely little free time to devote to cards/forums over the past few months. Looking to start anew in 2010 now that things are lightening up a bit. The collecting break has definitely reinvigorated collecting passion in chasing down some more USA items for my collection and set-building efforts. The release of multiple USA issues in Upper Deck products has me way behind. Looks like another year of multiple USA issues for Upper Deck as they try to compete without a license...
