One would have to be a collector to understand.

Sorry for being Debbie Downer here, but I honestly don't see the appeal of this product as a whole.

Aside from the USA autos (which we don't know who will be included yet - and will there be any parallels at all?), as well as the Stras and Heyward autos, what else is there, really?

Bowman was appealing to me because it had many more prospects included than just the few obvious ones.
That's not true at all. "Collectors" are not driving the case prices.

As far as I can tell wild speculation and irrational price gouging are taking care of that. Strasburg hasn't even been announced as an auto in the set, and there isn't much solid information about the product.

Never said they were. Almost no collectors buy cases with the intent to keep cards.

Paying $900-$1K PRE-ORDER for a case of product that will have little more than Strasburg, Heyward, Stanton (maybe) & a few other "RC" autos and NO prospect autos (or any prospects for that matter, unlike Bowman Chrome) is nuts. And this product releases the last day of Sept (assuming it isn't pushed back), so the baseball season is pretty much over by then. Why not wait to see if prices come back down after release?

Of course, if $tra$burg is still god-like in september, then I'll have to eat my words and be looking at $1400 cases of Topps Chrome...

There you go again, insisting that prospectors aren't also collectors.

You really need to do something with that box you like to put people in.

I wasn't the one put myself in a investor box by saying I "can't see the appeal of a product as a whole."

There certainly can be overlap between collecting and investing but its a mistake to think everyone overlaps. If a box happens to fit, wear it and be proud.

Sometimes I would like to pretend it's high school and jam you in it while sealing it shut.

He's a known prospecting hater. Just do as I do and ignore him. Seems to be the easiest way.

I buy cases and hold just about everything for my collection.

Except for the rare monster pull - such as the Pomeranz Super I pulled and just sold. I will take that dough and turn into stuff I will keep - focusing on a Stras auto from Bowman, probably a Heyward from the same, etc.

I am happy with the Topps Chrome case I stole from Gilmore. :D

I finally gave in and ordered 8 cases at $660 per case a few weeks ago.
Wow, glad I changed my mind and pulled the trigger.

Because its not true. I didn't even mention the words 'prospecting' or 'prospector'...you guys brought it up ...which is pretty amusing when you think about it.

However I prefer to receive advice on what to collect from people who collect...or would even collect themself what they advise to buy. I guess this also makes me an *******.

J.P. you're being way too longsighted about this product. Topps Chrome is not a buy, bust, and hold scenario.

Looks like the morale of the story is better pre-order any and every product the minute those pre-orders go up.

Worried now though they'll start inflating from the traditional sell price right from the get go with everything from here on out and may not even have the chance.

This post is dead on. If you have the money lock it in.

And yes expect the product to cost more because with only topps in town they know it's more limited.
