2010 Topps Copper #/399

I found a Sizemore when searching COMC a few months ago, but hadn't seen another before or since. I'd never even heard of this set, so that was a bit of serendipity. After some googling, it looks like they only made Series 2 cards from Wal-Mart 'value packs.' Even though they are #/399, they are quite a bit tougher than you'd imagine. I don't know where all those value packs have gone, but it doesn't seem like people opened that much and they might've all gone the way of those '52 High Number cases, or perhaps they did and the Coppers have all just been relegated to monster boxes by now. I guess don't sleep on picking up your guys, and stars could be deceptively priced right now.

Some of the rack packs also had the Copper Cards in them.

If I recall correctly these packs also had several autographs that were only in these packs. They were also at much better odds then the regular packs. For example, the autos in racks with the coppers were 1:33, while in regular racks they were 1:300 and up.

Games used in these packs were much much scarcer odds were in the thousands while regular Series 2 retail were around 1:48.

The value boxes were always popular because the hit ratio was really good, and the Strasburg refractors were selling really high at the beginning. I can remember people pulling sick hits, so they were popular. A few guys on the boards would clean the stores out in one shot. I opened a couple and didn't get anything.

I know where a few value boxes are if you wanted to pick a few up.

Its always tougher to track down hits from retail packs because the people buying them aren't nearly as likely to sell them as people buying hobby packs. A greater percentage of retail buyers aren't gung-ho collectors who protect their cards or keep everything either. I'm sure everyone knows this but its easy to forget.

I believe every card in series 1 and 2 were done like that.

The info I found says only series 2, so Vizquel collector can relax. Of course, he's now left to pine for what might have been if only those cards had been made, which may be worse.

I bought a Justin Morneau a few months ago. I have only seen maybe 5 to 10 total so they don't pop up very often.

Didn't realize they were that tough to come by with the higher print run. I've got 526 Carlos Guillen and 636 Rays with Longoria and Upton.
